Cam. The new era

The fact is, Cam himself said that when he saw the truck as he laid on the ground he wondered why he wasn't dead.

Your uninformed opinion on the wreck's severity is irrelevant.

If Cam believes he came close to death, which he probably did, it can indeed have a transformative effect on him. Anyone with a similar incident in their past knows this. Heavily traumatic experiences have a way of diminishing the small things we worry about.

You are absolutely correct that it can have a transformative effect on you.

But, you never know what that effect will be on someone.  He may very well reflect on the incident and decide football is not as important that he once thought....which could be a negative thing to his focus and play.  Or, it may be that he realizes that life is fleeting and to enjoy every second because it can be taken away at any moment....and gets even more serious about his development and play.

Point is that this incident did and will change Cam (it always does)......question is how.

Agreed.

While we all love the scenario where Cam decides to become the best player possible and dominates the league the next ten years because of this event, it isn't necessarily the outcome that may occur.  The guy could just as easily realize that life is fleeting and that he could die tomorrow so why spend every moment of his life obsessing over something like football instead of doing other things he enjoys instead?  He has millions in the bank and could spend the next few years roaming the Earth, Ricky Williams style, and never look back.

Those are kind of the extremes and, while the reality will probably fall somewhere in between, there isn't a right or wrong response to something like this but the idea that he returns as some kind of QB wunderkind who dominates the league is a bit of wishful thinking IMO.

Having said that, I wouldn't mind seeing it if it happens.

So basically you are telling us Cam will be a better qb because he survived an car accident?

Oh is that what I said?

Or..... Did I say I think it changes his perspective.  He plays lighter and realizes its a game and treats it as such.

I have never insinuated that when he was laying on the pavement he was laying in radioactive goo that gave him super powers.  FFS.

I was in Iraq in 2005. Standing outside smoking with about 3 other people. All of a sudden a fuging 7 foot rocket comes screaming out of the air and sticks in the ground close enough to us to read the Russian writing on it. My life definitely flashed before my eyes. Luckily that poo was a dud or none of us out there would be here today.

Made me a much better QB on my flag football team.

Here's the thing about Cam:

Cam has always been a carefree, fun-loving, free flowing, rhythm and vibes type of guy. This is how he plays and when he's in that space in his mind, he is the most dangerous force on the field. A lot of people don't like Cam smiling... a lot of folks don't like celebrating... they complain about Cam pointing after the first down, but that's the kind of person he is.

Cam is at his worst when he's second guessing himself and over-analyzing what everybody else thinks. This organization should prioritize investing in Cam's mental state (coaching) in the same way they prioritize his physical state. (line and offensive personnel.)

My hope is not that this accident does not make Cam more serious. I hope it makes him more carefree and less worrisome. Cam is at his best when that kind of energy is driving his play.
