Old man rant: people wearing headphones while driving

I use speaker mode

So this. I'm not a smart guy by any stretch of the imagination, but I figured this one out the day I started driving. It shocks me that this day in age I still see people driving around with one hand on the wheel with a cell phone obstructing half their peripheral vision.

Honestly I think we need to go back to manual transmission. You can't do poo else with your hands but change gears.

I am sure doing that produces some sort of feedback?

Not at all. The only time I hear feedback at all is when I am charging the phone the same time I have it plugged into the AUX jack. Then every time I rev the engine I hear a whine. Unplug it, and you would think I had bluetooth in my 2008 Solara.

I drive a manual. It's definitely possible. You should see some of the dangerous maneuvers I make on a daily basis. :D

I'm old and I simply assume that everyone driving around me is either texting, yapping on a cell (not using Bluetooth), playing video games, getting head, yelling at the kids or has buds in.

Once you make that assumption, you'll no longer be surprised about the idiots driving around you.

i've always thought it was dumb driving around town, but i actually do it now driving back and forth to charlotte from greensboro twice a week. it makes the commute a lot easier to handle and makes phone calls a lot easier to sustain, especially when driving a manual (although on the interstate that's not really an issue either.)

the only other time i've done it was in indonesia earlier this year. i was on a motorbike and jammed to queen and audioslave while navigating my way across bali and it was strangely sublime.
