Greg Olsen is a baller

Just off of watching Walls play vs. Olsen and not looking at any numbers I would say Walls. He was the main cog in the offense for a long time. I'm having trouble articulating why I feel that way. I guess Walls was a better pure receiver without a doubt, but Olsen is way more athletic. Walls was pretty damn good.

Most good tight ends today are athletic freaks, Walls made a living moving the chains and being crafty. Most of the teams he played for didn't fare too well, but he was regarded as possibly the best tight end in the game and the best player on the Panthers. Any game that was broadcast nationally he was the player the broadcasters would highlight going into the game for the Panthers.

Maybe not hated, but nobody viewed him as a reliable player.

Fixed it for you

Um, everyone was ecstatic we got him. He was always known as a receiving TE, and we all knew we got a steal for him for a 3rd. The only knock he ever had was that he couldn't block.

You're obviously not remembering the events correctly.

Walls and Olsen are both great.  I agree with others that there are subtle differences in their styles though.  If you sift out the differences in the type of QB and offense the two had/have, it seems like Olsen has a bit more of WR in him, while Walls had these huge hands that always seemed to make critical catches while being mauled in the RZ and end zone.

BTW, Walls is still in CLT.  There's a pic around here on the forum of him at a practice talking with Olsen and Shockey.
