Justin Blackmon

So i have to be a tool and a puppet on NFL.com to be able to tell if a player is talented?

or maybe a 40,000 poster.

How about a guy who actually had a long, successful career as a talent evaluator in the NFL?

But hey, what does that guy know, right?

Blackmon is the greatest receiver ever! If the Panthers would just start listening to the Huddle and pair Justin Blackmon with Stephen Hill, the offense will be unstoppable!

Again. Your argument is completely fallacious. First it was I don't want to waste a lot of money or a high draft pick in him.

Ok we'll give a 7th for him.

But the money!

Ok we can give him a low 2-3 year non guaranteed contract which is all he'd get given his circumstances.

But Gil Brandt said he was no good a month into his rookie year!! He knows more than you!!

You're literally picking at straws at this point.

Is that the opinion he has of his talent NOW, or his opinion after a few games in his to start his rookie season?

He said he looked slow on his routes and that they went to a vet in shorts at the end of the game? is it that bad?

you Tried To cite an article from sept. 26 Of this rookie year. He then went on to put up 800+ and 5 TD on a poo team with a poo QB.

I cited an article written before his suspensions started.

But I'm sure he's a much better player now since his multiple suspensions.

You repeatedly said that gil's opinion is much higher than mine.

But this was his opinion a few weeks into his rookie season.

The onky thing holding blackmonback is his retardness off the field.

You cannot deny the talent blackmon brings to the table when hes on the field. Its all off the field stuff man. He is a #1 WR when hes on the field. If you cant see that its because you didnt see him play

Sorry, but I'm with Mr. Scott on this one. Sure it would be nice to have his talent on the team. No doubt he could help us. And for a 6 or 7 he would be a steal.

But, what happens when you finally trust him. You are in a playoff push and you have to check the news every morning to see if he is still on the team. Or if he messed up and is gone. Now you've lost that roster spot at the most inopportune time.

He may never screw up again. In which case, he is worth having.

But you cannot tell me you will never be completely comfortable with him. You will always be wondering when will he blow up.

I would much rather continue to draft, or bring in a FA or two, to build the WR corp.

I think his point was that the article was a bit premature. The results of Blackmon's rookie season (when put in perspective) would suggest this as well.

If he performed well enough to earn a new contract, what makes you think he'd accept some small incentive laden offer from us when some other team would probably offer better?

You're talking about either giving up a 7th round pick for a one year rental or putting us in the position of relying on a guy who is well known for being unreliable.

Neither of those options works for me.

"If he doesn't take it he can go else where" that was in my last post, it also answers your first question. I'm not saying we should rely on him btw. Not sure where you got that from. He would probably be the number two wr, maybe 1, can't say for sure. Regardless, if he does accept the aforementioned deal and becomes an integrate part of the offense, then gets busted for drugs, it's really not a big deal. We wouldn't lose that much money, just the 7th rounder. If we get an above average wr for 1-2 years bc of a 7th round pick I would say that's a successful trade for us. If you feel differently, great, everyone's entitled to their own opinions.

Pretty much.

What's funny is how short people's memories seem to be.

A Few Months Ago: "Well, we finally get some badly needed pass rush now that Frank Alexander is coming back...Wait, what? He's suspended again?"

Months Later: "Hey, let's trade for Justin Blackmon!"

Heck, before his latest screwup, there were people on here screaming for us to trade a second or third rounder for him. "He's learned his lesson and he's worth the risk" they kept saying
