Justin Blackmon

Justin needs to stay away from the NFL. He is an addict and cannot handle the lifestyle. He would need a 24/7 babysitter like Josh Hamilton, and even then it would be dangerous to his sobriety. For his health and safety he should just retire and stay near his family. It's not worth it. He'll end up dead or in jail.

I don't know the man and you're probably right. But reality says he WILL give it another go and another team will take that chance. For a low pick (and that's optimistic IMO), that risk/reward is worth it IMO.

Risk/reward. The Browns reportedly balked at 2nd rounders before Gordon exploded last year. There will be a market for him IMO.

And people on here were ready to trade a second round pick for Blackmon based on the argument that 'he was worth the risk'.

Then he screwed up yet again, even though he was in the midst of being tested 10 times a month.

You don't go after people like this because they're either too addicted to put the drugs down or just too stupid for their own good.

You don't throw a million dollars at someone like that, much less put your team in the spot of depending on him.

You don't accomplish that by depending on people who have proven they're undependable.

It's possible to get a talented receiver without throwing money at an idiot.

who said we would be depending on him? i'd hope we wouldn't be depending on a 7th round pick. if we could get a top 5 draft pick for a 7th rounder, i think we'd be all for it.

it is also possible for people to rehabilitate themselves.

it's not like we're trying to throw the franchise away for this guy, we're CONSIDERING spending an EXTREMELY LOW pick on him. obviously our FO would RESEARCH the situation, and make an informed decision.

but to completely throw the idea out the window without considering it is idiotic.
