Kony ealy at DT

Kuech the Sneak

Stats alone don't tell his story properly. Ealy is showing improvement. That's exactly what you want to see from your rookie DE. It's rare to see one step in and be dominate from the start.

Watching E.Brown be a non factor his entire time here is a great example of what you don't like to see. Ealy has stepped up in key situations this season, showing that the game is not too big for him. I expect to see more and more of those moments from him as he develops.

Every time I saw Mizzou play I was never really impressed with Ealy, we should of never drafted him, same with Gaffney.

I don't want to hear Gettleman apologists make excuses for those two bone headed picks

See this is good work

You've framed up anyone who has an opinion other than your own as a gettleman apologist, effectively undermining anyone who doesn't think the two picks were terrible automatically. This is how it's done people.

why is a topic like this allowed to continue, but the ironic DA starting in 2015 topic is shut down?

Mods probably see the thread title and reply amounts and think: There must be some good discussions about Ealy in there, don't need to check that thread haha

You sound like a Gettleman apologist

Were they or were they not bad picks? He had absolutely no reason to draft a DE ad RB when they were much bigger needs

gaffney was a sixth rounder which is where GMs usually draft prospects based on potential and something or other about the prospect catching their eye.  who doesn't know that?  not a bad pick.  bill belichick liked him enough to put in a waiver claim for him when we were trying to get him to IR too.

ealy was a BPA type pick and if he works out then great.  that gets an incomplete which also means that you're wrong for calling it a bad pick.

Holy crap people.

Ealy is 6'5 280..Sam is 6'2 260

Completely different style DEs and Sam is hard to even fit in a 4-3.

And to acknowledge the actual topic at hand, Ealy is being eased into a Hardy like role.  That was some of his first looks on the inside but I expect that to happen a little more often as time goes by.

Exactly...Sam is to small for a 4-3 defense, more of a 3-4 type player. Not saying Ealy will ever be as good as Greg Hardy but i can see him filling a similiar role,a DE that can swich to DT when needed and that;not all bad.

You know you can draft a player on potential and need right?   What potential did Gaffney had BTW? He was a Stanford system back like Taylor and Gerhart

Ealy was not the BPA available Morgan Moses had a higher grade by most scouts and was still available, Allen Robinson was also still available if I remember correctly

This panthers team wasn't a rebuilding team we needed players to contribute right away not 3 years in the future.
