It was the beginning of the end for Hurney. After that game, Hurney was scared of not having enough running backs. You see the results with the cap hell we've been in for the last several years concerning running backs.

That's pretty much it. Stephen Davis had been useless all season outside of the red zone (he had 12 TDs but only 549 yards in 13 games), DeShaun Foster was injury-prone, and Nick Goings was inexplicably taken out of the offense almost entirely after a really good 2004 season. Hurley decided to 'never again' not have running backs. Problem is we focused almost entirely on backs instead of receivers or QBs.
