Muhsin Muhammad gets some recognition

It's widely agreed that there have been two special rookie classes, when it comes to wide receivers entering the league, since the 1970 AFL-NFL merger. The first came in 1988 with a collection that included two Hall of Famers (Michael Irvin and Cris Carter), another player currently up for election (Tim Brown) and one who could've gone to Canton if his career hadn't been cut short by injuries (Sterling Sharpe). The second great class came in 1996. That bunch included four receivers who caught at least 800 passes in their careers (Marvin Harrison, Terrell Owens, Muhsin Muhammad and Keyshawn Johnson) and four others who surpassed the 600-catch mark (Eric Moulds, Amani Toomer, Bobby Engram and Joe Horn).

Muhammad was really good. It's a shame he went to the Bears as I felt the Panthers offense never was the same after he left. He wanted too much money though. Back when Hurney was frugal.

Panthers had a very good offense in 2005.

Think about how good our 2005 offense would have been with Moose and Steve, though... Moose led the league in TDs and yards in 2004 and Smith did that as well in 2005. We could have had a juggernaut offense that year.

It really surprises me that he gets no mention of being a candidate for OROY. I'm hoping Norman shuts Evans down this weekend as he has done to most receivers he's matched up with lately. And that Benjamin breaks out in a big way which is possible because the trajectory of Anderson's throws are more conducive for jump ball situations.

I hate thinking about that sort of thing because I always remember how good I thought Patrick Jeffers would have been if he hadn't been injured.

We could have really used Moose in the 2005 playoffs. I enjoyed his time in Carolina and don't fault him for getting paid. He REALLY got paid.

The numbers were pretty but with al of our RBs down late in the playoffs, maybe Jake throws less INTS against SEA with a more veteran WR like Moose out there and pressure is taken off steve.

 

Drew Carter and Keary Colbert weren't exactly the guys you want to be depending on deciding whether you go to the SB or not.
