Don't get me wrong. Stewart has looked the best he has looked in 3 years the last 2 games.

I just think it is funny that some of the EXACT same posters thay argued for a whole offseason that D-Will's 200+ yard game should not count because the Saints had a bad defense are now using the Saints once again terrible defense to say "See Stewart has earned it"

True. We have been playing these games for years.

But I have been in the "let one of them get the carries" camp for a while now.

Get him the ball 20 times in those games and maybe he could've broken one. He runs hard all the time, it's just a match up problem with our offensive line.

He had 241 carries between 2012 and 2013 and his longest run was 21 yards.

Historically speaking Williams is more likely to break one off than Stewart

I truly don't care.  I wish we could get rid of both of them and their contracts.

But they both have their moments and strengths and weaknesses.  I say go with Stewart because he is playing well right now.  But who is to say he doesn't turn around and have two games like he did at the beginning of the season where he had 24 carries for 57 yards which is less than 2.5 yards per carry, but Deangelo ran the ball decently the same two games when he had 25 carries for 106 yards the first two games?

I mean Stewart was given the starting job in 2012 and bombed which is why he is in the spot he is in

Remember back when D-Will had a 200+ yardage game against a terrible Saints defense and people were saying it didn't count because it was against the Saints?

Now Stewart has a 150+ yardage game against a terrible Saints defense and those same people say Stewart has "earned it" because he had a good game against the Saints.

I don't really care who starts. Just think it is funny.

Did you even watched Stewart run the ball?

I have been watching Stewart run the ball for 7 seasons.  These last two games are probably the best he has looked since 2011

Stewart is about to have his first season in 2 years where he averages more than 4 yards per carry for a season

Deangelo Williams is about to average less than 4 yards per carry for the 1st time ever.

Also did Deangelo run at all behind the o-line with Norwell and Remmers??  If not it isn't really apples to oranges

I always thought GM's manage the personel. Coaches just coach who they have

Coaches set the depth chart (starters, backups, inactives) and pretty much always have at least some input on roster decisions.  It varies team to team on how much.

Generally speaking, if a coach goes to a GM and says "I want this guy cut" most GMs will say 'sure'.  Asking to sign a particular guy might be a little more difficult, but during the season generally not that much because it's not like a bunch of unemployed, big money free agents are sitting around waiting for a phone call.

Gettleman has always described the Panthers roster as a 'collaborative effort' but he has final say.  Rivera actually had final say on roster decisions for most of 2012 (after Hurney was fired).

Cason was a guy Rivera wanted last offseason because he was familiar with him from his Charger days.  The question now becomes did Rivera stop wanting him or did Gettleman say 'this guy of yours sucks and I'm cutting him'.

Stewart plays better when he doesn't start, so he doesn't. That's what the staff believes based on when he started a couple of years ago and sucked.

It's football. Starting doesn't mean squat. He'll still get the most carries. So what if he doesn't get THE FIRST ONE?

we should start Fozzy since it doesn't matter?or make them play rocks, papers, scissors?

look where i come from you start your best players at each position.why?because its about sending a message to the rest of the team.

Fozzy might be our best running back.  No joke

Where YOU come from?

You and everyone else who wants him to start are irrelevant. The only thing that matters is the coaching staff believes Stewart plays better when he DOES NOT START, which is why he doesn't.

They started him a few years ago, and he didn't respond well. That's why they believe it.

On this issue, their reasoning is sound.

ICYMI: at the bottom of a Yahoo Sports article today:

NOTES: Rivera said DeAngelo Williams will miss his second straight game with a broken hand. Jonathan Stewart, who ran for 155 yards last Sunday against New Orleans, will get the start.

Sorry if it's already been posted. I haven't read the comments of this thread.

That's a stretch.

More effective than Williams right now?  You could make an argument.

What he is for absolute certain is the most fun to watch score a TD because it's always followed by at least a dozen people going "waka waka waka" (which is often followed by one or more people asking what that means)
