Cam's First Facebook Post Since the Accident

in before tinderbox or lounge...

Maybe, just maybe, there is some force out there similar to a "guardian angel".

I have heard stories of so called "guardian angels" and such.

My own mother had a seemingly unexplainable experience when she was a teenager. She came home from school and her house was engulfed in flames. Her first thought was to run inside to save her younger brother, my uncle, Cliff. She said she heard a voice as clear as day say "Cliff is alright, he is at the neighbors house". No one else was around, but sure enough Cliff was at a neighbors house and no one was harmed in the fire that destroyed the home.

Of course that doesn't answer a question like, "where were the guardian angels of the holocaust victims?".

Things that make you go hmmmm.

That said, I've never had a near death experience so I can't put myself into that person's shoes.

A friend of mine had a massive heart attack five years ago. He needed open heart surgery and his chances of surviving were less than 3%. He is still here to this day, and after that day and several surgeries later, he is now much more religious and believes he only made it due to God.

cool story bro

it's possible to believe in something irrational and fundamentally arrogant while being a rational, humble person. see: 84% of the earth's population.

you'll notice i've gone to lengths to explain that a criticism of the belief should not be taken as an indictment of the character of the person believing it; i'd like to hope the reactionaries would read instead of unleashing blind rage. maybe they would be less angry then.

It wasn't an attack just a statement of fact coupled with the sentiment of your post. I don't mind what you believe as it is your choice and I celebrate that. It truly is wonderful to be in a place where you are free to think and learn and worship without the judgment, persecution, public shaming or ridicule.

It's not like religion would spawn terrorists organizations that train harder than anyone on monkey bars.

I assume you are referring to Islam or at least one of the "big 3". If those terrorists were to adhere to the full teachings of their faith they would cherish life as a sacred and precious thing. Man perverts even the purest of things. We are all capable of unspeakable acts of evil and miraculous gestures of love, it's up to the individual. Free will can be a bear.

Or maybe your Mom had an extremely traumatic experience, there are a few things about it that just cannot make sense from an individual's perspective, and therefore you use a religious experience to fill in the gap (i.e. the same thing that has been happening for all of humanity.. doesn't mean it is real though).

I wonder how many of these Christian folks would be reacting if Cam was praising Allah and Philly said the same thing that he did.

I imagine it would be something like, "DA should be our starter."

So glad that Cam came out of this the way that he did. He was very fortunate.

I for one wouldn't care.

I am always surprised by the high number of relious references in this sport and in your country in general.

If i am not a believer myself, i can respect respectfull religious peoples, i have my own beliefs regarding a something.

Anyway this is not the right place to argue about that since noone know the answer.. even me. ;)

But this is clearly not a good idea to try to convince believers that god does not exist. You may shatter dreams, wishes, hopes about lost loved ones..

Live your lives respect others as much as possible (not always easy on this forum!!!) and everything will be a litle more simple for everyone.

And don't make fun out of my English, after more than a sentence my English is loosing it's structural integrity..

sorry for twisting everyone's titties, but i wasn't criticizing cam or dumping on his sentiment, only pointing out the inconsistency of a commonly-held superstition. since when is describing something as "silly" the same as being intolerant? come on. it's telling that no one's trying to defend the idea that god literally decides some people are worth saving from accidents and others aren't, but just generally getting red-faced at anyone's daring to mention it.

oh well, i should've assumed people would drop kick their brains and ragepost responses… that's on me. as stated originally, i'm happy cam's ok and it's cool that he's taking a shitty circumstance to better himself and be inspired to live a fuller life. i love that mofo.

"IMO, being gay is silly."

Yeah, I'm sure you'd be okay with someone saying that. They aren't being intolerant, just "describing" something as being silly.

For someone who is so adamant about tolerance, you sure do preach a lot to others.
