Cam's First Facebook Post Since the Accident

The troll job by Philly was impeccable.

not trolling. it's not much different than attributing victory in a football game to god's favor… it's not intended as arrogance, and therefore isn't reflective of an arrogant person, but it is pretty silly when you think about it… isn't god blessing you with victory a curse of defeat (or ignoring the prayers for victory) for the other team? i think we went through this with teb0w a few years back and everyone got all huffy then, too. not a criticism of the person, only of the rationality of the belief.

apologies to anyone who was offended, but really, get a grip.

sorry for twisting everyone's titties, but i wasn't criticizing cam or dumping on his sentiment, only pointing out the inconsistency of a commonly-held superstition. since when is describing something as "silly" the same as being intolerant? come on. it's telling that no one's trying to defend the idea that god literally decides some people are worth saving from accidents and others aren't, but just generally getting red-faced at anyone's daring to mention it.

oh well, i should've assumed people would drop kick their brains and ragepost responses… that's on me. as stated originally, i'm happy cam's ok and it's cool that he's taking a shitty circumstance to better himself and be inspired to live a fuller life. i love that mofo.

You called it superstition which is your opinion. Soooooooo.... shut up and take it to the tinderbox

84% of the earths population practices faith or religion of some kind. 84% of 7 billion is what? 5.88 billion? That's a lot of irrational and arrogant people.

it's possible to believe in something irrational and fundamentally arrogant while being a rational, humble person. see: 84% of the earth's population.

you'll notice i've gone to lengths to explain that a criticism of the belief should not be taken as an indictment of the character of the person believing it; i'd like to hope the reactionaries would read instead of unleashing blind rage. maybe they would be less angry then.

i'm glad he's ok… it's been a scary couple of days. hopefully this brush with disaster gives him a new perspective and lights a fire under his ass.

that said i can't help but shake my head when people attribute their surviving car crashes to god's protection. more than 3,000 people die in car crashes every day in the u.s…. it seems arrogant to suggest jesus had his hands on your steering wheel but decided to take a smoke break when the other 3,000 careened off a cliff or whatever. oh well, superstitions gonna superstition.

thanks for your opinion,

now keep it to yourself.

Cam stated his beliefs on a public site and you want to sh!t on it. Who cares what you think.

Only Philly can state his beliefs and belittle others (not that cam did that, he's a little better than that). Didn't you know the rules? Ill wait for the....ohhh I didn't realize that I was belittling anything or anyone yet here are a bunch of words to prove Im super smart. Go Panthers!!! So glad Cam's ok!!!

uh what? please actually read the post instead of acting reflexively to what you think is an attack. it was pretty clear the point was separate from my opinion of cam to anyone who wasn't already looking for an excuse to pick up a mace and go on the attack.

anyone without a rampant persecution complex can see that no one was "shitting on cam."

Something stuck with me about what Cam said. He was playing the accident through his mind. This is something I personally did when I had an accident. The fact that I was cleared of any wrongdoing didn't make it easier. You still wonder if maybe you could have done something. I just hope Cam is not rushed back if he isn't ready. Mentally or physically. He's a tough guy, we already know that. I don't need to see him play again this year to know that.

That's a good point that I've not seen brought up much...the mental trauma of the accident. I've flipped my car before and just like you said, you keep rehashing it in your mind and it's mentally impairing for a while. I still have an occasional nightmare and I really get skiddish (no pun intended) about driving in winter weather.

It would be his beliefs... him would be cam. You didn't poo on Cam. Just called his beliefs superstition. That's pretty offensive man. That can be your opinion, but please only share it when asked. This is the Panthers forum, not a phillybs take on religion forum.
