Cam was hit from the back according to eyewitness - Video

I live on South Church and use that exact intersection tonight. The word "intersection" is a little misleading as there is not a light near where the accident occurred. There is a cross street that has a stop sign. The main road Cam was traveling (S. Church) doesn't have a light or stop sign. At that point in the road, there is no reason for Cam to have been stopped to be hit from behind, nor could a car have hit him from behind at the previous light and sent his truck to flip and land where it did, it's about 300-500 yards from there.

Black and Blue Review has a nice post about it. Check it.

Ok because the observer, or one of their editors, did tweet a BS headline like "Cam Newton has 16 driving citations".

But what the headline didn't say is 15 of those citations were from college. Only one since 2011.

That poo pissed me off.

just a question from someone who didnt attend college......................

driving citations obtained while in college don't count ??

Looking at the intersection, there is almost no possible way that this is Cam's fault. He has the right of way. He could've been going 15 over the speed limit (which probably isn't true) and it'd still be the other guy's fault. Whether the other guy stopped or not, Cam had the right of way, and he should've been looking. Every eyewitness has been saying the guy ran the stop sign. Probably without looking too because that intersection is many times mistaken for an exit ramp and people miss the stop sign. Cam's driving record is really irrelevant here. What I think happened is Cam was just driving along, as was the other guy and the other guy didn't see the stop sign and rammed into Cam's back left with his right front and Cam then turned his wheel to the left to prevent going off the side of the bridge causing his truck to flip and roll.

Under ARMOUR gettin' some love in those pics. What if he woulda been wearing Adidas or something? Haha. Glad Cam is OK. And judging from the other car, that driver seems to be OK, too. Cameras at that intersection btw, so we'll know for certain who is at fault. That's mah QB!

This is a life altering event that just happened. Truly unbelievable

No doubt. What if this is one of those moments where Cam realizes what could have been lost (career or most importantly -life). This could ignite Cam in a way nothing else could. I'm not saying he doesn't work hard, my point is that sometimes we don't realize how much something means to us until it's almost taken away.

I honestly think we're going to see a new Cam going forward.

Does that area have any traffic cams or business cams? Ha ... cams. Anyway, that will easily solve what happened instead of letting officers figure it out. I got t-boned on East Blvd once. Other driver lied and said I ran the light. No way for either of us to prove it. No cameras. Looks like this could be the same. "Cam sped" vs "Dude pulled out in front of me".

It's just misleading as hell.

My first thought was, "Holy poo, is Cam a horrible driver or what?". And that was the implication of the headline.

But in the article they linked to, they pointed out they were almost all from 2007-2009.

So in context of what happened today, no, those 15 or so citations from 6-7 years ago do not count.
