Gettleman's Scouting Department

Considering that the play clock doesn't run while they move the chains and set the ball and that players aren't huddled at the time, your argument is pointless.

Not really they still have to get the play in from the sideline. It's wasted time any way you slice it. It doesn't make a huge difference but I bet Chip Kelly wouldn't allow it.

Do you think Rivera mismanaged the clock yesterday?

The announcers kept going on and on about wasted time before halftime yesterday, but I think the panthers played it perfectly.  They gave themselves a chance to score before the half without leaving any time for Brees to answer.  If it weren't for the late hold on kalil, it would've been successful.  How many times have we seen Brees lead a 30-45 second touchdown drive before halftime?

The saints were going to get the ball after halftime and we couldn't afford to give them a chance at that kind of momentum swing.

Yeah, he was trying to play it both ways... run out the clock and try to get into scoring position, but run out the clock if possible... it worked, this time...  overall not a bad strategy.

Gettleman made mistakes this year... signing Harper and retaining Bell as our LT... but he has had some good calls too... he hit home runs on the UDFA's for the most part which is MUCH harder than doing so with a 1st rounder.

I'm still in the retain Gman, fire Rivera camp... as I was before Sunday.

RR is a DC, and I think that's as high as he ever needs to be.  He doesn't need to be anywhere near managing a game right now... and maybe ever, unless he drastically changes his coaching style.

Meh, he signed Byron Bell, Roman Harper, Thomas Decoud, and Antonie Cason to contracts. While he is decent at scouting talent. He still ignored, or signed players to key positions of need that are not meant to be starters. Hell, two of the four I mentioned are either out of the league or on the bench. I love us curb stomping the Saints testicles, but we need to calm down a bit on anointing him just yet. Last year we also thought Melvin White was a good signing, and sadly he is awful.

A LT on a one year deal making 2m.

Three secondary guys with a $3.5m cap hit combined.

I would say his problem isn't talent evaluation, it's finances.

One caveat before the argument ensues. If there is ever a time to over react it's today after a 41-10 curb stomping of the most annoying team and fan base in the NFCS. The Saints can eat poo and die.

Someone starting a thread trying to praise the Panther's scouting department would be ridiculous even if the Panthers had scored 70 yesterday. I don't care how good you're feeling.

Thank you. You have to admit Cam's first down celebration is a little gay looking though. I love spontaneous real celebration. Scripted marketing/branding crap not so much.

if not for Cams celebrations pissing the other team off to where they start fights we never would have had that unifying moment. I take Cam as he is. Who am I to cherry pick qualities. You like people for their good qualities and love them for their faults. It's what makes us all unique.

One could see it that way, or one could see that a player made a big play. If we would not have converted in that first series the saints would have had the ball back with time to spare.

Agree! Bottom line was to not give the ball back to Brees with any time left. I would've cared less if they had kneeled before going to halftime. We have to remember the same thing against Ryan. Momentum counts!
