Peter King on Cam and Carolina

Wait, did King just give Cam credit for something? 

 

Yes, and it is probably the first time this season he has earned it.  The same OL, same WRs, same OC, same Rivera.  Different result.  These variables seem to have been overcome this week, and Cam was brilliant. 

 

Cam was brilliant not because the OL was great--they seemed better because Cam was getting rid of the ball.  I did not do an exhaustive study, but he was not holding it much longer that 3 seconds.  Before, he held it 4 seconds or more at times. 

 

He anticipated blitzes and threw to the weakness created by the blitz.  Before, he ran from the blitz.

 

The running game worked.

 

Cam created the differences--the OL and WRs didn't suddenly start getting it.  They played well because they were getting the ball early and not having to sustain blocks long. 

 

Hats off to the game plan, to Cam, and to everyone who waited until the right moment to praise Cam--like King.

In typical Peter King fashion, he got the facts wrong.  He stated that any NFC South team could win the division by winning their last three games.  That's wrong.  If New Orleans wins their last three, they win the NFC South regardless of our status (8-8 vs. 7-8-1).
