Opinions on Mario Addison and Ealy

UDFA (another one)...6'3 260 #. Due to one "breaking bad" DE who is probably gone and another one that likes to get high, he was forced into a bigger role. He has six sacks this year and some decent QB pressures for a role player. If he can bulk up a bit it will help. Along with Ealy (who has shown flashes).Hopefully he hits the weight room also and puts on some bulk. He may be the future for this team. If Frank can put the rolling papers away then it is even better. Maybe draft a DE in the middle rounds (leave it to DG to find that guy). Losing Hardy will sting, but it may all work out in the long run.

None are starting caliber DEs but Ealy has potential to be. Frank should not be on this team anymore.

I don't think we get rid of Alexander. We have him for one more year and he's cheap. I'm interested to see how he will do when he comes in from his suspension and if he can get his crap together.

We need to use some of Hardy's money and bring JPP and Kenrick Ellis to Charlotte!

Addison is better right now, but Ealy will be better in time. 

 

I hope we can pick up a rotational/depth DE in th 3rd, 4th or 5th round of the draft, hopefully after we've scored some O-Lineman, a WR and a S.

Addison is a quality backup and Early has promise, but both are average starters at best right now and Addison is the more effective of the two. I think Ealy's ceiling is higher.

Yeah.  Mario is more of a speed rusher and not an every down DE...but an effective one.  Ealy is more of that balanced type who could continue to get more and more playing time as the next 2 years unfold.  

 

Since Hardy will be gone though, the big thing we're missing is that dual threat DE to an offense's run and passing attack before CJ exits.  

 

Next year with CJ, Ealy, Mario, and Wes we could be good but I wouldn't mind seeing more talent come in if there's a decent upgrade opportunity.  Build from the lines out.
