KB should continue to get better at routes, but...those hands

top dawg

Top Dawg, after all your hyping up of awful WR's like David Gettis, you should be the last one creating a thread criticizing a legit rookie like KB.

I never hyped up anyone. Just said that he had had the best preseason.  But, be self-satisfied making up your stories.

Yes KB would be a top 15 because of what he has shown this year. None of those rookies you listed could make the types of catches KB has made this year.

If he shores up the bone head drops, he'll be the steal of the draft.

Dude, you obviously haven't watched other rookie WRs play this year.

Hell, Lafell made great catches.  A receiver doesn't have to be flashy to be productive.  But I am not going to argue the point. Next year will give us some more clarity.

It annoys me how this board allows no room for critique.

Yes, he is a rookie. As I posted in another thread the truth of the matter is he is dropping easy balls that hit him in the hands.  It will happen sure, but to point it out is not some horrible thing.  He has done it pretty often, it is a trend not an exception.

Really it bugs me that he drops these easy catches mainly because all throughout training camp I'd literally heard

"KB CAN NOT DROP A PASS, HE HAS LITERALLY CAUGHT EVERY BALL THROWN HIS WAY" up until about the last day.  This is not entirely reflective of that. He is a monster, and should be groomed into a beast especially with more Offensive weapons. But don't get at OP for not only stating the obvious positives.

I think people's problem with the OP is that he said Kelvin can't be a number one receiver.  I'm sure people understand he has a problem with dropping passes.  But he can definitely be a number one receiver.

Scheme plays a factor into YAC. Shula's offenses have always been in the bottom of those rankings.

89 had 810 yards after the catch in a single season. Doesn't matter what you scheme up for KB. He ain't got that ability. Not even in the ballpark.

Well, this begs the question.

What WR1 have any of you ever seen that drops the ball as much as Kelvin Benjamin?

Edit: At such big times?

And I didn't say that he can't be a WR1, I said that I don't believe that he is a WR1, especially if he keeps dropping balls at opportune times, and doesn't improve his consistency.

My lord.  He's a ROOKIE.  He's allowed to have mental lapses.  If he can IMPROVE (I hear players do that sometimes) then he is definitely a bonafide #1 WR.  Maybe not exactly the type you want him to be, but still a star.  The whole "numbering" wide receivers thing is so overblown anyways.  You need playmakers.  That's what it comes down to.  He's a playmaker.
