like i said in the other thread i don't know how to feel right meow

on the one hand i wanna win out and go to the playoffs and be back to back division winners. but on the other hand i know keeping this coaching staff intact will be the worst thing that could possibly happen.

Meh. Not impressed with this win

It's not the first time the team dropped a 40 burger on the saints in December. ...after clinching another losing season.

The season is still up for grabs and so is a playoff spot. People thinking that these games don't matter are either being obtuse or stupid.

I've run out of fugs to give for Rivera for the second and last time

The guy takes 3 months to figure out how to win games in the regular season, the lone exception being in 2013. I want a coach that can figure out how to win games in July. It's probably fruitless hoping though because I don't think JR has the fortitude to cut him loose, whether we're 7-8-1 or 4-11-1

When you review Rivera's tenure with Carolina and can point out more negative characteristics and examples of his coaching than positive after this many seasons, it's time for a change not an extension.

Traditionally slow-starting seasons, weekly examples of poor clock management, special teams failures week in and week out, no accountability among the assistant coaches/coordinators, willingly and effortlessly throws players under the bus week in and week out, poor (if any) game planning, poor in-game adjustments... and the list goes on.

These aren't small, correctable traits of a borderline above average coach, these are the shortcomings of someone overwhelmed by their job.

I don't know. We have to be pretty impressive last three games and sneak in the playoffs for it to happen.

we don't have to do much these last three games for Ron to save his job, JR isn't going to fire him one year after winning the South... I can almost guarantee it.

Am I the only one that does not care for a win in the next three games? Is it bad of me to hope we lose and in the process have a better draft pick and have the Tugboat sunk? He's a great DC but he is years away from being a great coach, if the light ever turns on for him.

You're not the only one, I can assure you of that

If the team wins its next three games, finishes 7-8-1, and either makes the play offs or just misses out, then Rivera will be back next season.

In this scenario, one might argue that if we had Greg Hardy's pass rushing ability, a better O-Line, Stewart running like he did against the Daints, and Cam healthy from day one, then this team would have had a winning record and eased to the division title.

If the team loses the next three games against the Bucs, Browns and Falcons, finish with a 4-11-1 record, and are embarrassed in those games, then I think Rivera could be fired.

Why? Because in this scenario the team would have continued to show that a change is required to freshen things up. The teams been blown out a few times this season, and add any more into the equation, and Rivera being shown could be the right move if the team shows ambition in its pursuit of a new head coach.

That said, unless this team manages to screw everything up they should beat the Bucs. The Browns are beatable. And the Falcons are beatable. So it wouldn't surprise me to see us win out in a typical Ron Rivera late season winning run.
