Wow when Cam has time....

Don't think he is taking anything away from his play today. He played fantastic.

His point was that he would like to see more consistency from Cam before inking him to a 150m deal.

Cam still has a lot to work on via reads, timing and footwork but I also hope his detractors especially those who are panther fans don't feel the need to bring up every mistake he makes as if every other QB is perfect. Not saying it's you in particular but sometimes it can be bad.

A combination of:

-Philly Brown continuing to develop into a competent receiver

-Stewart being far superior to Deangelo and getting most of the carries

-Tolbert providing a dimension we have lacked all season whether running, receiving or blocking

-The offensive line playing well both in the run and passing game

Add all of those things together and suddenly Cam, Greg and KB aren't trying to play the entire opposing defense by themselves.

I'm worried about Philly being out though. We need his speed. I hope they give Stephen Hill a shot if brown can't play next week.

Summed it up perfectly

You do not have to praise Cam Newton when his qb rating is 78. That requires excuses.  And if you question a QB with a 78 qb rating, you have every right to do so with the stats to back you up--not excuses..  The same line, the same WRs, etc.  were on the field today that many were blaming for Cam's lack of success this season.  The same OC was calling plays, the same head coach.  The biggest difference I saw was that Cam was decisive and threw the ball quickly.   He was accurate with the passes he throws well, and he even threw a nice deep ball with touch.  His feet are still out of position a lot when he throws and his weight is leaning toward his back foot.  Look at these things instead of the score board, but progress was made.  I simply worry about Cam having to run to be an effective QB.  QB dives--not draws--on short yardage cannot be sustained over a season/career.  Nice to feel a win again, however.

Cam played well, but if you watched the game and think he was accurate, watch it again. He missed easy passes and made unforced errors--however, his decision-making was so much better.  He threw some bad balls.  His mechanics need a lot of work.  He cannot sustain the hits he takes playing this way.  He stretched the defense, showed run early to keep them from blitzing as much (NO is famous for blitzing), and the run game was awesome.  This was one game against the 30th defense in the league.  While I was pumped, I caution anyone reading too much into this.  When we run the table in similar fashion, I will start to feel better.

What I liked was the fact that Cam was not perfect--he missed easy targets and he made a few bad reads, but we won behind him.

Let's not underestimate the game the defense played.

What do you guys mean "when Cam gets time?" I thought he had plenty of time but just held onto the ball too long!

Did he suddenly change how long he holds onto the ball when Amini and Chandler got injured?

Yes.  He was getting rid of the ball  faster today to negate the blitz-happy Saints.  It was by design.  I doubt many passes were in his hand more than 3-3.2 seconds.  Earlier this year, he was exceeding 4 seconds a lot.  The line was better today, but you are right--the LG play was great and the RT was solid.

Now lets play like this vs. a good defense.

I've been saying it all along. If that makes me a homer, so be it, but Cam is the man. He just needed sufficient help around him.

The sad part is, what does this say about the coaching staff that, yet again, it took multiple injuries and things out of their control to put the best players on the field? The guys they were determined to play ended up being replaced by UDFAs...

...needs...
