getting back to back turnovers deep in enemy territory to start the game doesn't hurt either.  Still doesn't take anything away from that first drive, which was a thing of beauty.

 

Can this offense perform when the running game gets shut out?  Let's hope they keep Deangelo as #3 option when he gets healthy so we don't have to find out.  Watching Stewart run was like watching a different team.

 

And just like last year the defense helped the offense.

i think it's a combination of the offensive line actually playing well, cam being on point, and the saints d sucking

ive been saying for a while that our biggest issue was the oline, and for all I know it could still be, lots of offense look good playing the 31st ranked defense.

This.  It's this simple.  When our offense works from the get-go, Shula has no deficiencies in keeping the ball rolling.  He doesn't outsmart himself out of something that's working.  The problem is that he hasn't shown the ability to fix a broken gameplan.  And the gameplan has usually been "broken" because it requires the offensive line to like...block guys.

Look, I hate Shula as much or more than anyone, but you know that's not abnormal for football at any level right?

 

We even should have hit a couple of them if the WRs could catch consistently...I agree that he does it too much in general this year but if the reason it failed was because of simple drops then you have to give blame where blame is due and this time it's not on Shula.

 

It's also like CRA said in another post...it is incredible how much DWill sucks/hurts this team...those -2 to +1 yard runs are killers for this offense. Stewart is always fighting, breaking tackles, and falling FORWARD....he doesn't drop like a sack of potatoes when a feather lands on him.

Shula had to have called some plays for sure. I saw the vintage fake screen to the left and pass it to the right play. Only thing is it actually worked for a coule yards lol.

Something happened, what happened in that game goes deeper, this team had a totally different vibe to them, Ron look and acted completely different. Its almost seems as though JR, Gman, Cam and Rivera all had a meeting at JR's house and JR and Gman let Cam and Rivera know they are both expendable and if they dont start performing they are as good as gone.

Im being serious, something happened behind closed doors to spark what happened out there

As I'm watching the game again, the formations, routes was definitely not his own doing. He just called what to run thats all

They pulled a viking ST and attacked a weakness. WR in motion to the backfield, was a great play waiting to happen til about midway in the third. Iants where clueless and couldn't stop it.

But I'm still seeing third & short........ then cam throwing a fiddy yard bomb..... sick of whoever keeping doing that shiat.
