Harbaugh blows off Michigan

Report: Michigan reached out to Harbaugh

Speculation is that he wants to stay in the NFL and his wife doesn't want to leave the Bay Area.

Sounds like he'll be headed to Oakland next season.

I think he's making a mistake, honestly. He's way better suited to long term success as a college coach. If he flames out in Oakland, he'll have missed the window to maximize his payday.

Because the Raiders are an awful organization and being part of them could damage your rep.

Michigan is a stories football program, his alma mater, and Ann Arbor is a nice place to live.

I was joking but I'll bite....

Jim leaves the pros to go to Michigan, they are so desperate to be relevant and a winner they fire him in three years there is no way he gets back to the NFL anytime soon after that.

Michigan has bigger issues other than Jim to figure out. They now have competition in recruiting, TV markets, etc than they have ever had before. Back in the 80's and 90's it was them and Notre Dame up there. That was it. It isn't like that anymore. They need to realize that going through two coaches in 7 years hurts them recruiting. They had 3 coaches in 37 years, now 2 in 7 years. Oh btw how is Rich Rodriguez doing now? Pac-12 coach of the year you say?

Gone are the days when Michigan could recruit kids by saying "if you wanna go pro you gotta come here" or "if you wanna be on tv you gotta come here". Times have changed, all of those big "power house schools" from the 90's/00's are struggling the same way.

Where does this idea come from I could only be a long term success in College?

I was HC at U of San Diego for 3 years and Stanford for 4.

In San Francisco in the NFL I've made 3 straight NFC Championship games and a Super Bowl in just 3 years as Head Coach.

Anyone would be extremely foolish to doubt my long term ability to lead an NFL team, especially the idiot currently calling the shots in the FO in the city by the bay.

And after three years in the NFL, you're losing to the worst team in the league and your employer can't wait to be rid of you.

Jim Harbaugh is a control freak.

I suspect Oakland will provide him with more of what he craves in exchange for a return to respectability.

Granted, his act may wear thin after a few years, but Oakland has never been shy about taking chances and making deals with the devil in pursuit of excellence. It just hasn't been working out for them lately, ever since Al Davis lost his mind and went to the great grid iron in the sky.

Come to think of it, Jim Harbaugh kind of reminds me of Al Davis.
