To me, the result of that 3rd down is inconsequential.

If you go for a 25-yd bomb on 3rd & 1 you'll never make it as an OC in the NFL.

Then you know nothing about football.

You take shots when you have single coverage and the defense does not expect it.

Thats not on Shula guys... The inside guy (Cotchery?) cut in and then went straight out.  Kelvin going deep was supposed to open it up for that play.

It's a play that has a very high probability of a mistake. Not a play you call when you need 2 yards.

If you only go long when you need a lot of yards, you will fail. Defense us looking for it then.

You call plays to keep the defense off balance.
