"[Cam] might be two years away from being finished."

how about keeping the race poo out if it.

Especially given that the guy who write the article isn't exactly an "old white guy".

Likewise, you see comments in the article from George Whitfield.

First of all. I'm white, and I'm well aware that the author was black. You missed my point entirely. If you re-read my post, you'll see that I was trying to make the point that the irrational Cam detractors would feel vindicated by this type of article. (I never mentioned the author of the article.)

I should have said "immobile statue" instead of "unathletic white guy." Sorry. If either of you know anything about my posting history you would know that I'm not one of the ones who tries to stir poo up here. It was a pretty innocuous post and I'm surprised by your reactions.

I've never been a Cam apologist, but the talk of him being done in two years is crazy talk. My point remains, Cam doesn't belong in that article. RG3 and Russel Wilson lost the support of their teammates, and Kaep and RG3 are one read and run QBs. Cam is neither of those things, the only reason he is regressing is that he is getting killed out there.

Say hello to Jeffri Chadiha...

chadiha_jeff_m.jpg

...respected NFL writer and author of the "racist bulls--t" you just condemned.

Dude pump your breaks. I know who Jeff Chadiha is. What does my post have to do with him? If you would have taken the time to read my post you would clearly see I am referencing to the unnamed GM that says Cam might be out of the league in two years. How is that even possible? The unnamed GM is following the same thought process that Cam has the work ethic of other black quarterbacks that have failed.

So unless you are trying to say the QUOTE is from Ozzie Newsome please read before you attempt to correct someone.

keep race out of it. you made it an issue, not the author.

I wasn't talking about the author. Please re-read my post. My post complains about the unnamed GM that is quoted and says Cam may be out of the league in two years.

That isn't possible unless he is catastrophically injured. The NFL is evolving and that unnamed GM has a good ol boy philosophy that says Cam can't succeed.

If I am wrong please educate me on how Cam could be out of the league in two years? Please don't say he is talking about injury because he isn't.

See this is how I know you didn't read the article that closely (if at all) or you just don;t know football all that well.

The article said NFC GM.  Newsome is in the AFC.  It being an NFC GM means it could be Jerry Reese or Martin Mayhew, so no guarantee the quote comes from a white guy (or did you not know there was more than one black GM in the league?)

Add in that the GM is talking only about Newton, who's taken so many hits that his being knocked out of the league if things continue as they are is a real possibility.  And if he were just trying to knock all the black quarterbacks, where's the mention of Geno Smith or Teddy Bridgewater?

Bottom Line: You read the racist stuff into it on your own.

Now imagine the author is white!

Here we go again. I wasn't talking about the author. Reading is fundamental. Look at my post. Even if the unnamed GM is one of the few minority GMs in the league the quote is still a short sighted and stereotypical thought. There is no way possible with Cams work ethic that he will be out of the league in two years.

My post said nothing about the author of the article.

Fair enough.  It was an unfortunate choice of words, though.

Newton is in the article because it's discussing young quarterbacks who are struggling and analyzing why.  Objectively speaking, that is Newton.

For me, the crux of the article is this paragraph:

Although it's obvious how running quarterbacks can threaten defenses, what is often overlooked is how running can hinder their development as passers. The more a quarterback uses his feet to make plays, the fewer opportunities he has to hone the finer points of throwing the football from the pocket. The subtleties that make Tom Brady and Rodgers so dangerous -- such as feeling the pocket collapse and using their eyes to move safeties -- only come from repetition.

I've complained for years that college coaches are doing athletic QBs a disservice because they use them primarily as runners when their long term future success depends on their ability to pass.  What's sad to me is that now some pro teams are making the same mistake

What does that have to do with your whiff of a post? Funny how you try to insult my intelligence about football when you couldn't comprehend a 300 character post.

It's simple dude you brought up the author of the article "as if" I was speaking of the author. I'm aware there are other minority general managers. The guy in Oakland comes to mind....o yeah since you felt it was somehow relevant let me go ahead and acknowledge that Oakland is in the AFC too.

Rationalize the GM's quote all you want as you to try to save face. Newton will be here two years from now and once healthy he will probably rush for 500 yards again. The Panthers just need a better offensive staff to utilize his skill set.

Two dimensional quarterbacks aren't going anywhere.

After re-reading my post, not only was it a poor choice of words, but the way I worded it could be easily interpreted as talking about the author. I can't always maintain my superb posting quality while I'm working. (I drive an ambulance.)

Another point that isn't discussed much is the new rookie wage scale. Top drafted QBs are not as expensive as they used to be and isn't as risky to experiment with them.

I don't credit our current coaching staff with being that smart.

FYI: My sister was an EMT.  She once sprained her ankle tripping over a shooting victim.

You can imagine the running gag that became among her colleagues.

("I head him say he was gonna trip her if it was the last thing he ever did")

I'm not really an EMT, I was kidding (trying to think of an excuse why my post was worded bad. Posting while driving an ambulance would be a good excuse)

I've worked in hospitals for over a decade though (imaging) and I've got a bunch of friends that are EMTs. Those guys always have great stories.

you Googled the definition of what a QUOTE was I see. It does help if you know the difference between what's quoted from an outside source vs the author..

I'm done with you on this topic. There isn't anything good left to discuss with you regarding this topic that would lead to productive conversation.
