And the new James Bond movie will be called.......

I grew up with Brosnan and the 007 movies he starred in were mostly bad. I don't believe it had anything to do with Brosnan, those films just had horrible scripts and dialogue.

My impression of Bond, not based on books or anything but the films I've seen, is that he is a sophisticated British gentleman. Craig simply does not have that super man appearance. His face and hair just don't scream superior genetics like Brosnan's did.

Craig looks more like an ugly Bond villain than Bond.

At the time I hoped they would pick Clive Owen instead of Craig.

I hear you. The great thing about Bond is that each actor has brought something different to the persona. Brosnan certainly embodied the polished gentleman persona, you're right about that. Daniel Craig is clearly the flawed and rugged Bond. Brosnan was self-assured with a smile - almost arrogant. Craig is self-assured with a grimace - welcoming of the danger but doesn't seem to enjoy it.

If there was a actor closest to how Ian Fleming wanted Bond to be then Daniel Craig is it. Fleming wanted Bond to be dark and gritty and almost like a villain.

The Bronson era wasn't great at all. The best film he did was GoldenEye and really I felt Sean Bean would've been the better fit.

Most of Roger Moore's adaption of Bond were alright but I thought most of the movies were too slow for me. Although, I did enjoy The Man with the Golden Gun.

S.P.E.C.T.R.E

For all the die hard Bond fans out there, you may like this one because there are elements from the Fleming books and from the classic movies that are returning.

Including SPECTRE, which is the iconic terrorist organization seen through the classic Bond flicks with Sean Connery.

Rumor has it that Christoph Waltz will play Blofeld but again, just rumor.

Here is the synopsis:

A cryptic message from Bond's past sends him on a trail to uncover a sinister organization. While M battles political forces to keep the secret service alive, Bond peels back the layers of deceit to reveal the terrible truth behind SPECTRE.

Thoughts?

The campy stuff got annoying after I turned 14.  I'd take Craig's Bond 7 days a week and twice on Sunday for as many movies as they can make.

You really have to consider these films in the period they were released in though.

In 1962 this is as bad ass as you could get.

I really liked Brosnan as Bond.  GoldenEye was one of the better Bond films in my opinion... it's just that all of Brosnan's OTHER Bond films sucked and were completely ridiculous.  He fit the character great though.

He's the 2nd best Bond behind Connery in my opinion if we're just going by actor portrayals.  The franchise had just gotten stale after GoldenEye (the last legit Bond movie before Casino Royale).

I like Craig's Bond movies, but I feel he's rather weak as the James Bond character himself.  I know he's closer to the original novels in being gritty, etc. but he just lacks... something.  I don't know.  Just doesn't have anywhere near the screen presence as Sean Connery or Pierce Brosnan.  This new generation of 007 movies have been top notch however.  That campy over-the-top ridiculous gadget poo was getting retarded.

I too really wanted Owen to be the pick. I also agree that Brosnan was better as Bond even though Craig's films have been far better than Brosnan's, except for Goldeneye
