That's not what I meant. This is the 24th James Bond film. Twenty-four. How many times can you be entertained by the same crap? They aren't literally remakes but it's still the same crap.

Casino Royale is sort of a remake, but not in the truest sense of the word since the first version was a loose adaptation.

He is a little more gritty, a little faster to kill, rather than stun or knock out.  007 needed a bit of a change after the quippy Brosnon, and some bad movies before Royale.

To an extent, you are correct. Some of the films were, indeed, bland but I think Craig revitalize the series and 2 out of his 3 outings as Bond has been pretty impressive with Skyfall being one of the better Bond films to date.

My brother is a huge James Bond fan.

I grew up with Brosnan and the 007 movies he starred in were mostly bad. I don't believe it had anything to do with Brosnan, those films just had horrible scripts and dialogue.

My impression of Bond, not based on books or anything but the films I've seen, is that he is a sophisticated British gentleman. Craig simply does not have that super man appearance. His face and hair just don't scream superior genetics like Brosnan's did.

Craig looks more like an ugly Bond villain than Bond.

At the time I hoped they would pick Clive Owen instead of Craig.

To me he just doesn't fit the role of Bond. Craig is a rugged, buff man. That isn't Bond. Bond is a charming and suave, sophisticated man.

The Brosnan films were bad but he fit the role perfectly. The movies with Craig are more like every other rugged, badass fighting flick instead of that Bond niche- which is what made the Bond films unique.

It's truly not that easy to find a guy who can pull off a successful mix of 'suave' and 'ass kicker'.

 

Connery could, but no one else since has been as effective at both.

I wanted to be James Bond until the CIA told me they don't hire good looking people to be field agents.

 

Since Craig took over its been amazing. Bronson only had one good Bond movie. No fault of his own. I thought he was great at being Bond it's just the plots were bad and the gadgets ridiculous. Craig is the Bond we need in a post 9/11.
