Rivera: The bottom line is we don't have the pass rush we had last year...that's a part of it...

Ummm, WTF?

This coaching staff takes way too long to figure this crap out. Any fan could have told you this following week 3?

The bottom line is we don't have a coaching staff that can spot problems and rectify them with proper adjustments until the offseason.

It took him this long to figure out the issue? How much longer until he figures out the answer?

You cannot generate a pass rush with your DL, but you continue to rush 4 and 3 DL only at key moments in the game. Your defensive strengths are Luke and TD. Your best pass rushing threats are Luke and TD. The weakest part of Luke and TDs game is their ability to cover the pass (and their weakness is still better than most NFL LBs). So, when your solution is obviously sending Luke and or TD at the QB to rush him into a mistake you let the QB have 5+ seconds to find the open receiver. You could drop 11 into coverage and still give up plays because of this idiocy. You need a pass rush. Cover with 5 or 6 while sending players with higher rates of success at the QB. You will end up with more positive defensive plays than dropping 7 into coverage.

On offense it is simple, stop trusting your OL. When you have 1 yard to gain do not run it up the middle. The OGs are going to be blown back into the RB. A QB sneak with an OL surge will have a higher rate of success. When the game is on the line and you need a first down to ice the game, do not run the ball between the tackles on all 3 plays leading up to a long FG attempt. Once again, you fail to understand your team and which players/plays/formations give you the highest probability of success in a given situation. Instead you go with the predictable coaching handbook of win with your OL and DL. Well when your OL and DL are huge weaknesses, you need to stop trusting them until they show they deserve the trust and start schemeing around the players you know will give you the highest rate of success. This means you will have to live with the mistakes that can occur from the known risk, but when you have an OL and DL that continually fail to do their basic job you cannot blindly follow them into defeat as an NFL coach. You get paid to know better.

As a coaching staff you constantly play away from your strengths and stubbornly play to what you as coaches want to happen. You keep trying to win with your OL on offense and your DL on defense. Sad to say, but this was NEVER going to happen at any point during the season.

These coaches play to their weaknesses and expect success, because that is their plan and they are hell bent on making their plan work. What is the definition of insanity?

Second conference today

Kony Ealy and Ryan Kalil missed practice today with illnesses.

#Panthers C Ryan Kalil and DE Kony Ealy sent home with stomach virus.

Ron Rivera said the team has pretty much ruled out DeAngelo Williams and Amini Silatolu with injuries. Said Greg Olsen's swelling subsided.

#Panthers injury report: DNP - Ealy & Kalil, Silatolu, DWilliams Limited: Addison, Lotulelei, Olsen

Rivera liked what DT Star Lotulelei did today. #Panthers

Steve Reed @SteveReedAP

Kony Ealy and Ryan Kalil both were ill and did not practice. Stomach bug going around Panthers locker room.

Looks like DeAngelo Williams and Amini Silatolu won't be available at Saints. Star Lotulelei (ankle) was limited today but making progress.

Ron Rivera on Saints' throwing late in 2013 game: "That's some people's philosophy."

Rivera on #Saints throwing ball in fourth quarter last week,"That's some people's philosophy.'' Hasn't had to remind #Panthers players of it

Rivera said he's seen better effort since defensive leaders met and talked after the Green Bay loss. #panthers

David Newton @DNewtonespn

Rivera admits it "ticks him off'' when a team throws deep late with a big lead, but he's not going to tell #Saints how to run their team.

Rivera on Saints scoring into 4th Q: "If you don't like it, then you have to stop it."

Rivera confirms Greg Hardy showed up Saturday.

Greg Hardy was here on Saturday to talk with coaches and players. Just a visit.

Rivera said the visit was the first time since Hardy went on commissioner's permission list.

Rivera said Hardy spoke to some players, but did not address the team.

Rivera isn't sure why Hardy came by, talked to a few players. "I'm not sure what they talked about."

Again, Hardy is making an effort to get his name out there a bit more now, to remind league he’s still around and feels he’s been wronged.

Ron Rivera on team's struggles: "There is not one thing to point at." Said it's a mixture of different things.

I bet Ron hates Gettlemen.

Imagine....a General Manager that hides all season forcing you to give PC Front Office answers to all this BS.

Harper is here for one reason only.....Gettlemen paid him too much, now Gettlemen is making Ron keep him all season b/c it cost to much to cut him. Then he sends Ron out there to lie about despite everyone knowing the truth.

harper is paid to much to be gone?

Your opinion.
