So is he not allowed to see what the young guys have in games if Cason is still on the roster? He couldn't just bench Cason? What if the young guys have nothing and then we have no secondary because he cut Cason before we could see?

 

I know this is a hard idea for some people to wrap their heads around, but maybe because we are not going anywhere this season, they are letting some better veterans, that have no future with us go so they can sign with a playoff bound team. We HAVE to get as many young guys playing as possible to see what they got so we know what we definitely need going forward. It makes total sense to me and happens ALL the time in the NFL.

I would also guess rolling the dice with only a front 7.....more value is put on guys knowing responsibilities than having high ceilings and needing to grow.

A partial answer to your question is that we did need a roster spot for Byndom. And honestly there was no reason to keep Cason at all. He sucks. He is graded as the worst CB in the league by PFF.

Because he's white.. J/k. Because he's still very young and despite his slump this year he's our best player and someone you can build a D around

Younger athletic players were dgs signings last year. Mikel was our Harper last year except he was athletic and a top 5 safety at his position the year before.

Do you not think that with all the veteran losses last year that ron was scrambling trying to find that because ron likes to play it safe? He coaches scared, he is so slow to change players who obviously suck because he's scared.

There are so many times where we have seen injuries benefit us in rons tenure because of him being a scared coach. Mitchell wouldn't even had been on the field of it wasn't for godfreys injury.
