Al Wallace said Cam Newton will never be a franchise qb

there is nothing i care about less in al wallaces opinion on franchise quarterbacks. if cam newton isn't a franchise quarterback well then quite frankly there aren't many franchise quarterbacks in this league. this fan base in unbelievable, it is laughable. part of me wants to see him leave so you guys see how bad it can really get. oh wait we've seen that pretty much 16 years prior to cam.

Cam can't be expected to do much with this trash o-line and defense that has no heart minus Kuechly.

Last year he could put the team on his back, I'm just glad he isn't acting like a bitch and pouting on the sideline..

 

It gets me when people always say Cam put the team on his back. He did not. Everybody knows that our defense carried that 2013 team and usually bailed our offense out game after game. They turned Cam into a game manager last year, which was actually a comfortable role for him.

Umm.... we've been sucking WITH Cam the majority of his career here. 6-10, 7-9, 12-4, and now 3-8-1. That's not exactly what you call winning. Also, you now got me curious of how "bad it can really get", because getting blown out almost every game, offense can barely move the ball, and being considered as one of the worst teams in the NFL is pretty damn bad.

"Decision making "? What bad.decisions does Cam make? He is inaccurate with the ball at times but he rarely forces the ball. Andrew Luck leads the league in terrible interceptions, probably followed by followed by Foles and Geno Smith. 2 of those three never get criticized for bad decisions tho. I cant put my finger on why not

I agree with Al. Cam has regressed a ton this season and lately he doesn't do anything praiseworthy. Even last year the offense was unreliable and was completely ineffective in the home playoff game.

 

Few will accept the possibility that Cam is a bust. This franchise really can't overcome it and people will cling to that last bit of hope until the final moment.

 

It's sad but Cam has been figured out, has lost a step and doesn't have the work ethic or mentality to bounce back.

Sorry you hopped on the bandwagon last season and it fell apart this year, hopefully next year you'll find another team to bandwagon to. Maybe Marshall's NFL team will be more to your liking.

Cam can be a franchise QB (although that's a dumb fuging label, what the hell does that mean anyway?)

Not sure if he'll ever fully live up to his potential though as long as we keep hiring coaches who think "a tough defense plus a game manager at QB" are still the road to a championship.

Cam isn't awful he's just not worth a monster contract. He's not a franchise QB right now. I'd be okay with keeping him for 15 million a year. Otherwise let him walk and use that money to sign F/As. Let DA start until we find another young QB with potential.

Cam has already proven he belongs.

If the point is he will never be as good as Manning or Brady than that might be true.

But he has proven he is a QB that we can win with and when healthy is a dynamic playmaker.

He is not yet, and may never get to the point that he is the guy you can throw out there with just about anyone and expect him to carry the team every single week.

But he also isn't a dime a dozen QB. He has immense talent. With the right coordinator and supporting cast he can be a great player.

He is still developing. But he is a guy we can win with, and win big right now IMO.

It is important to bring in a new offensive staff, as it has become clear they have brought him along as far as they can take him. Time for a new set of eyes.
