Al Wallace said Cam Newton will never be a franchise qb

He would get sacked a lot, yes.  Yet he wouldn't be sacked nearly as many times as Cam.  This is simply because Cam doesn't call for shorter routes, nor does he talk with the guys he plays with.  Peyton does these things with his guys.  It doesn't matter what team you put him on, he will always get 11-12 wins a year.  That is a guy you give the big money to.  If Cam had a dynamic coach, such as Harbaugh or Chip Kelly, I would give Cam the big money.

Not only that, the top QB's know how to move within the pocket which is something that it seems most mobile or running QB's struggle at. Pocket awareness is something that improves over time and Cam has a ways to go. People here say that all QB's would suck with our line or WR's but that is not the case at all.

And again I don't want anyone to get the wrong idea about what I'm saying concerning Cam.  He is a franchise guy with extra talent.  Yet he will need more around him, namely coaching, that guys like Brees/Manning/Brady/Rodgers/Luck don't need.  You can't spend all your money on a guy that needs a lot around him, because you will not have money to get him the help he needs.  Take a look at what makes guys like Manning great.....

I'm not saying you need to yell at guys, but signal callers talk to their guys.  They direct the offense.  Andrew Luck does this without yelling at guys, and we even hear him talk to defensive guys for smacking him upside his head for crying out loud.  When's the last time we seen Cam talking to his offensive guys on the sideline after a three and out?  The most Cam ever does with his guys is joke around with them.  Never do I see him directing guys about what's going on with the field of play.  Unless we get Harbaugh, there isn't a coach out there that will do this for Cam.

I bet Cam performs better next season when his ankles have healed and we add some linemen who can block...and add a nice new shiny toy for him to play with named Mr Cooper

Cam isn't like Brady , Peyton etc. those guys can change offenses with their IQ and arm. But surround Cam with real NFL talent...he will run over, past, and through defenses.

I've never viewed Cam as a general. Doesn't come across that way. Not in his nature I suppose. I'd rather him be himself TBH. There are 50+ grown men on the team. Individually they should all be able to perform their jobs effectively without someone slapping them. Just my opinion

Where was Peyton pocket awareness in the superbowl? ?

None of these guys ever played with sub par coaching or talent so until that happens your argument is based on myths and opinion not facts..

Cam CAN NOT yell at his guys.

I know you said he didn't need to, I am just saying he can not do it. The media would destroy him.

He can't get away with the same thing others can get away with from a media driven narrative point of view

He would need more then 1 wr who could get open quickly to be able to do this. . Something he wouldn't have here..

I don't understand this myth that Manning and the rest of the elite could do in this situation when they have never had to play in a situation like this.

Agreed. Manning for example has always had talent around him. Had Harrison, Wayne, Saturday, Welker, Sanders, Julius Thomas, Sanders, etc. Manning or any of them other QBs have never been put in the position Cam is in. Only one close is possibly Brady.

I would start questioning Cams decision making ability if he decides to stay here and play for this.ungrateful fanbase

Grateful for what exactly?! 3 losing seasons? one playoff appearance that was a loss? His terrible deep ball? Slow decision making? He is TERRIBLE, pure and simple, he has regressed and made no progress whatsoever. I hope we let him walk and draft his replacement within the first two rounds. He is not a good QB whatsoever.
