Al Wallace said Cam Newton will never be a franchise qb

We will make improvements for sure, but we will never get Cam what he really needs.  Cam needs a dynamic, offensive minded coach because he is not a signal caller.  We will never get that kind of coach here in Carolina most likely.  Yet with that said, if you put those QBs on this offense, they would get more out of it because those guys are signal callers.  They will demand more out of the players they are with, and that's not knocking Cam.  Cam is just not that type of QB.  Cam is the kind of guy that does what he's expected of, and hopes everyone else do the same.  Brady will light into someone if they mess up, or at least talk to them on the sideline etc.  If things go wrong for us, Cam will sit with his QB coach and try to find out what he's doing wrong, even when he has done nothing wrong.

If you are not that kind of QB, you need a coach that will talk to guys on the sidelines when they mess up.  Rivera just stares into space, and sometimes yell at the refs.  I doubt we will ever get that dynamic offensive minded coach here.

1.  Why do you think Cam needs that?  IMO, all Cam needs is an effective offensive coordinator/head coach.  He doesn't need an offensive wizard.

2.  Since Gettleman has never hired a coach before, how do we know what kind of coaches he might consider?

But wait you just made a excuse for not giving Cam weapons but still judge Cam when he doesn't have them???????

Plus YOU said how do teams surround their QB with talent while paying a big money QB... I just showed teams that are doing that...

Also the Saints aren't in great Cap shape but they seem to keep weapons on top of weapon and a avg.. Oline around Brees....

But again YOU still haven't answered any of my question..

Dude I can't with you. You're complaining about me not answering your questions but I asked you if those teams paying those high QB salaries have the same cap and depth issues as us.

Why don't you practice what you preach?

With the way NFL contracts are constructed, Cam isn't leaving unless upper management wants him to.  That is, unless he pulls an Carson Palmer and decides to just retire unless the team trades him.  And there is certainly no indication of that.

And besides, where could he go?  Most of the good teams are already set at qb.  Maybe Arizona, but with them having so much cash tied up in Palmer, I find that highly unlikely.   Cam will be back next year.  And hopefully with the salary cap issues slowly but surely being resolved, we will be able to put more talent around him over the next couple of years.

Exactly.

When I hear: "Cam may not want to come back"  "DG is going to make Cam not want to be here" etc....it makes me laugh.

We completely control Cam for the next 3 seasons if we want.  If he does something stupid, like calling out coaches, his GM, or tanks it to get released, he will be cutting off his nose to spite his face.

Those QB have never played with a lack of talent around them like Cam has... So you're basing this opinion  on what???

Example...

Out of your signal callers who has played with a sub par OC??? I know Sean Payton isn't sub par and Brees wasn't Brees in San Diego...

Has Rodgers ever played a game without McCarthy making play calls?? McCarthy isn't sub par either..JMO

So you think it's SANE to judge a player off 6 games instead of the 53 game before??????

LOL keep going you're proven your sanity every post...

Its sane to pay a player coming off an injury and a bad year to big money because in the NFL, injuries never affect performance and players never go bad.

And you're the sane one? Keep humoring yourself.

He's missed 1 game in 4 years and is 1 of the most durable players in the league..

But now you want to use Injuries as a excuse not to pay him?????

How many straws do you have in your bag Jr.?????

Contract wise, it should be easy to trade Cam.  I think he is due to make around 14-15 million next year, not bad for a franchise QB.  Of course the team he would go to will give him a long term deal.  I think the Jets would be interested in him.  Maybe the Rams, Titans, etc.  There would be teams who want him.

I think he needs a dynamic coach who will talk to guys on the offense about their play.  Get everybody on the same page and things like that.  I don't know about Gettleman, but we all know JR only like defensive minded coaches right now.  That could change, but I don't want to give Cam a huge contract only to be stuck with another defensive guy at HC.

As of right now if you put those guys on this offense, they would have more success due to their experience of course, but also because they direct the guys on offense.  Tom Brady worked with Charlie Wiess (sp), and had success.  What has Charlie done since he left the Pats?  Peyton has worked with a lot of talent around him, but as far as coaching, it wasn't spectacular.  With all that said, Cam would be better with talent, but I don't believe he will ever get the coach he needs.  Like I said, Cam isn't a signal caller.  Shula confirmed this in one of his comments about the amount of freedom Cam has to call audibles.  People say the coaches are holding him back, but if Cam really wanted to call audibles and direct the offense, he would be doing that.

And they've had just one win season since then. If they have another losing season this year, it'll be two out of three years. I'm sure that's what you want. You're hurting my brain.

How is it using it as an excuse? Why would you pay someone whose performance has been affected by injuries to top money? You can't be this dumb.

Charlie Weiss failed as a HC not at OC so you would be wrong calling him a sub par OC like Shula is..

And Again none of your so called Play callers have had to succeed in the situation that Cam is in now... Not one of them..

You're making a opinion based on nothing..

It's not just the injuries!!!!

Have you not seen this list of things that has been wrong with this team??

I've posted this list 5x in this thread.. I know you dodge question but are you not reading post now either???

This dude is a joke... He tries to play this role as a smart football fan but you are just as incompetent making a valid point as Shula is a OC

Injuries aren't the only thing that has caused Cam's bad play this season... Have you not watched a game???

Injuries
