Al Wallace said Cam Newton will never be a franchise qb

You do the research and then post it kid. I guarantee all those great qbs showed steady progress in their first 4 years and not regression like Cam has. You're so desperate for a competent QB that you're willing to designate 1/6 of your team's cap to him. Unacceptable. I don't see how some of you can't see this it's remarkable.

the GOAT qb threw 23 interceptions his 4th year. had a 84 qb ranking after being in the mid 90s the year before. he regressed before a coaching change happened.

dude i get being scared about paying Cam. i'm nervous too because i dont know what it means with what we can do to surround him with talent. but starting 2 udfa tackles, a d2 guard and a rookie guard on a line when this kid needs stability and to keep growing was a massive mistake. i thought he would fair better, but he's not there yet.

there a numerous "elite" qbs who didn't become what they were until years 6 and 7. i honestly don't know what we are gonna do but this offseason is going to be one of the most interesting in panther history.

There is voicing an unpopular opinion, and then there is simply being a jackass.

Nobody but you is talking about 25 million a year. You heard Newton or his agent say he wants 25 million a year?

Kid? Aren't you younger than him?

I think it's past your bed time young man.

it's just speculation but Cam's agent was clear they're not interested in an Kaepernick type deals.

where's the other QBs first 4 years?

Give me 4 of your ""Good QB's"" and I'll post their numbers since you don't have the ........ to do so..

and if Cam has better numbers you take a 2 month vacation from the huddle..

Deal???

Thank You! Cam hasn't carried sh*t. His only winning season was when we had an elite defense. Carrying your team actually involves having a winning record. Hell, Cam couldn't even carry our team to a .500 record until last year. Even RGIII legitimately carried his team to the playoffs his rookie year. You can't say a QB is carrying your team when you are 28-31-1 as a starter.

No, carrying your team means you actually carry them. That you are all that the offense has. That the team constantly relies on you because there is no one else. That is what Cam has been. He has been our offense because we haven't surrounded him with the line and weapons he needs.

I'm on board with giving Cam another year as long as we can afford to bring in talent. We're still in cap Hades. I'd hate to make it worse before he has a chance to truly show what he's got.

Our defense in the 2nd year didn't become a better defense until half way thru the season when Luke became a starter.

Also were talking about a offense that was the worst in NFL history the year before Cam got here..... Then top 5 in scoring his rookie year...

FACT pimp

What happened when teams got tape on him? Our offense dropped to 19th and he hasn't been the same since. Same with RGIII and Kaep.

You realize how much Kaepernick got shitted on in that deal right?

He hasn't had to be the entire offense for his team most of his time starting. Newton on the other hand has.

Kaepernick has also had some damn good weapons to work with. Those two guys are in two very different situations.

Then that would be carrying the offense, not the team.

So yes, he did not carry the team. His rookie year was when we got Chud and the RO took the NFL by storm. We had a bad defense also. He thus could not carry the team. If he was able to overcome all this and get us a winning season, then you will be justified in your assertion.

Rodgers in 2011, went 15-1 with the worst defense in the league, dead last. He had 4,600 yds, 45 TDs and 6INT with a rating of 112.5. That is what carrying a team looks like.

We are in this state as a franchise because of our penchant for handing out big contracts at the wrong time. Why repeat the cycle when history is there to guide us? No one is saying don't pay him, just don't give him that outrageous contracts that elite QBs get.

Qb's get paid specially 2x pro bowlers who have passed and scored more times then everybody not name Marino in the start of their careers.

i honestly think that is what is going to happen.

work on a deal while 2015 is going on and seeing how he is doing. Only problem is we need talent on that o-line more than anything and cam needs to heal up. still think that is possible.
