Should G-man be fired

  1. 1. Should Gettleman be fired?

Kind of an offshoot to Zod's Rivera poll.

Like I said in another thread, for me it has been extremely difficult to separate Gettleman's failure with Ron Rivera's failure this year? After all, it's not like G-man put his coach (or his franchise QB) in the best position to win. As far as I'm concerned, the Gettleman-fan honeymoon is over.

Say what you want about money---blah blah blah---but G-man's work since the end of last season has been at best a gamble, and at worst just very perplexing. I suppose it's easy to be a Monday morning QB, but the problem is that a few key things that 95 percent of NFL types said would be a problem for us come this season actually were (are) big problems.

Personally, I am not saying that either Gettleman or RIvera should be fired due to the circumstances, but if either one or both are fired I am not going to cry about it. Ironically they both took a while to land their respective positions, so there is that parallel. Perhaps it's just part of the process of getting out from under Hurney magic. If that was the case, I just wish that someone had been honest and defined this as a year of rebuilding. But, I digress. G-man: up or down?

It's Dave's fault for doing the best with pennies? Lol

It's Ron's fault that Hardy isn't available?

That the injuries to linemen have made it possible to field the same unit?

I don't think either are at fault for this shitty season.

If we merely had a bad record, I wouldn't have a problem with Rivera.

But Rivera shows the same flaws as a head coach as he showed in Year 1.  Poor at managing time.  Awful at challenges.  Zero halftime adjustments.  The only thing Rivera really had going for him is the team always fought hard for him and as we have seen this year, that is no longer the case.  Look at Jacksonville.  They have considerably less talent than us but Gradley has his team fighting at least and showing improvement throughout the season.

We could be playing a LOT better than we have been playing.  I will never forgive Rivera (the head coach; he's a great human being by all accounts) for what he did in the past Atlanta game.  He's burned us too many times with that dumb crap.

I'm sorry. But the cap space was wasted this year. We are going to have to sign starting players that Aren't terrible for this team to do anything. Room to extend cam and Luke is great, but it's the nfl. Who's the last MVP caliber player that just walked into free agency? It doesn't happen. And, in case you missed it, we have Cam and Luke now, and they can't do anything besides get blown out with this garbage roster.

I admit you can reasonably say the cap space is wasted this year. It is easy to say that from a perspective of hindsight.

But the move was not really about this year. It was about the next several years and eliminating future cap obligations.

Obviously it is through hindsite. Nobody knew what was going to happen, but that doesn't change the fact that it is wasted.

Even if we don't extend Cam or Luke, getting out of bad contracts and dead money may make it more feasible to spend more for better players in the future. Instead of signing guys that only command smaller contracts and hoping they are all-pro OTs that other teams didn't properly value and handicapping more future cap space we don't have.

Some here will never fully understand how bad Hurney fugged this team financially.

We have been in cap hell the likes of which few teams have ever seen. We still have another year of it as well.

Dave gets a pass from me on this. With that said, this is a big offseason for him.

The Hurney excuse is over thoe.....

Realistically it won't be over until 2016 unfortunately.

We will likely be dumpster diving again this offseason. Then things really start to clear off the books.

Likely coaching search and his ability to sign Cam and possibly Luke will be his biggest judgment barometers this offseason
