  1. 1. Should Gettleman be fired?

I say fire him. The Steve Smith decision showed Gettleman isn't professional. You can have asshats on the football field but in the front office you need businessmen who put the team above their own egos.

What wasn't professional about it? If anything it shows he is willing to make tough decisions.

I would prefer that then overpaying players.

By Steve account, the decision wasn't tough at all for Dave. It was a pretty easy and clear see ya later

Voth detailed that Smith was taken to the Principal's Office several times last year and told, among other things, to stop being hard on his teammates,  His response was basically "I'm Steve Smith and I do what I want."

Had he produced better numbers last year, that might have been worth putting up with.  He didn't, so it wasn't.

That's cool that Bill said that. I need to hear words to come out of the horses mouth however to believe it. Steve said what he said, Dave hasn't cause he wanted to let his decisions talk for itself, which it hasn't

But that reason, being too hard on team mates is interesting. If true, I can see clearly why this team is sitting at a shameful 3 wins

I think by being "hard" on teammates....implies quit being a pointless pain in people's ass and driving everyone nuts. Counterproductive type behavior

I don't think 89 was constructively hard on people. I think he made bad....worse

Steve Smith was also on record, saying he would not help a young WR that could end up taking his job. When you are an asshole, what goes around often comes around.

Whatever it does or doesn't imply, we won more games with him than without him and that's all that matters. Its cause nobody pushes anybody on this team especially scarecrow Rivera

Do you honestly believe we would have won more this season with him?  I'm not arguing either way, because I don't care either way, but I don't see him making much of a difference this season... considering the mess as a whole.

Smith being some sort of inspirational leader is as big a myth as the idea that he's have produced big numbers this season with us.

Smitty this season played hard until after he played us, then his production dropped off.  It picked up again for one game - the Saints, a team he hates - and then last week he was good for all of one catch for two yards.

He was coasting through his final years here, and everyone knew it.  That made him no longer worth the headache.

Yes in fact I do, if not more games the offense would atleast be better. When Lafell made his comments about Pats practice harder, the huddle laughed and brushed him and you see its obviously true by games performances. Jeremy in training camp talk about the team lackadaisical attitude and that's cause nobody pushes anybody to be better especially the head coach. Steve shouldn't have to be hard on players, thats something Rivera should be doing.

Was 89 making guys better? Our front office didn't think so.

But I do agree, I don't think we have the right leasership. Coaching or talent. I don't 89 was ever that guy though
