  1. 1. Should Gettleman be fired?

LoL... religion

Cutting Steve Smith was not a fail. It was a great move that saved nearly $35m in cap space from 2014-16.

The handling of the situation was a massive fail. Cap ramifications made it understandable and even reasonable but how the organization did it was not tasteful to say the least...I don't think players are to fond of treatment like that, it's a business but their is a certain level of expected professionalism that goes with being a NFL GM.

WTF is yiour point?  Your problem is you try to attack the poster and not the content of the post.

Try shopping with no money in your wallet.  I am critical of Cam--yes, if you understand what critical means--my words were "We don't know what we have in Cam..."  I said that many times in many posts.  His stats have regressed.  Having a bad OL (not all 4 years) and a weaker WR corps does not make you a great QB if your stats suck.  It means that it is hard to tell how he would be with talent around him.  However, all QBs depend on talent.  No contradiction here, WOW, unless you spin it so you can argue against it.  The poor supporting cast is on Hurney--and the reason we do not know how good Cam is cannot fall on Gettlemen because he had no money.  If you think, "Well, he shudda drafted a T."  Then go back and see how the players are doing who were there when we drafted.

In baseball, the pitcher is measured on wins and losses.  They do not say," he is 4-12, but his team is not hitting well when he pitches and they make errors." Why is that?  Because all QBs have to overcome adversity on every team in every game.  Cream rises.  Cam is sinking.

No other position in team sports determines the outcome of the game more than the NFL QB.  Maybe the variables are adversely impacting Cam.  How many games has he won in a shootout?  As much as his OL and WRs may be hurting him, his defense last year helped him.  He has not shown the ability to take over and run the table.  Currently, he is in the bottom 20% right now and wants to be paid big bucks.

If Cam has to have stud OL and elite WRs around him to be good, is he elite?

In baseball they do give concession to pitchers who don't get any run support and they do have stats that track the individual numbers for pitchers. So you would be wrong..

I'll ask you then what QB in NFL history has succeeded or overcome

1. Bad Oline

2. No consistent run game

3. Bad play calling

4. Lack of pass catching weapons

5. Breakdowns by the Defense and Special teams.

And I'm saying all of these in a season..  Not just 1-2-3 or 4 but all 5 issues. Who has risen to the top of this situation???

Answer this question.

Of the elite QB who doesn't have at least 1 of those things???

Which one of the elite QB's don't have either a bevy of pass catchers or a good oline??

All elite QBs have solid OLs.

Most have a matchup nightmare to throw to.....

To OP

You should have had a C choice, allowing more time.

GMan has not been good this year at all. However, he was last year. So it remains to be seen.

And he's at least appeared competent in dealing with the cap, regardless of how his free agent moves played out this year.

Rivera's, been historically shaky as an NFL head coach every year, including his fluke/banner year of 2013 where he started off poorly, showing no balls.

Putting words in my mouth.

I never said I wanted to sign him long term, only that renting him made no sense unless it was for a Super Bowl run. But no, we did not save anything by renting him. We won't be paying him after this year, but we also won't have the player.

As for your "Lol, find another team", thanks for validating my judgement and intellligence. Were you and I in agreement on just about anything in life, I would begin to have my doubts.

saved signing bonus money.

Dave obviously felt the Panthers were going to lean on the defense to remain competitive.

Smart man.

Save the insults for somebody that gives a damn.

If what Jeremy is saying is true, and Dave is approving guys being let go for doing their jobs and speaking the truth (Jason & Avant), maybe its time for him to go too

Dave letting go of irrelevant players in a terrible season that have nothing to do with our future?!? OH NO we has to fire him

Give me a break
