You think TSA is bad?

Try flying thru Canada...  I'd rather drive there than fly again.  Our flight was departing at 7:05am so wifey and I decided to play it safe and leave around 3:30am.  We dropped our rental car off at Toronto airport around 4:10am.  We got to Terminal 3 around 4:30am and noticed a big ass line...  We stayed in that line for 1 hour before we got our tickets and checked in our luggage BUT you do not drop your luggage off... you take it with you (2 50lbs bags)!  Next stop... 25 minutes line to verify your passport.  You get to the computer and you scan your passport where computers verifies that passport is legit then computer takes your picture and prints you a pass ticket (you need that pass ticket when you go thru screening).  Some tickets have x and others don't... x means some were selected for random additional screening...  Next stop is 40 minutes wait to go thru US customs in Canada!  Next stop is 5 minutes wait to drop off your luggage.  Next stop is another line for additional questions and screening... that line is 30 minutes long.  I got absolutely pissed with Canadian process and told em I'm missing my flight because of their bullshit... they let me skip that line... and sent me to next line... Body and bags screening... that line was 25 minutes long.  We passed last security point at 7:03am.  I grabbed my bags and ran while my wife was walking behind so the plane would not depart.  We entered the airplane at 7:06am.  When we got to our sit we realized the hell we just went thru...  We were sweaty, tired and gaspin for air.  Airplane was only 70% full...  Pilot hangged around until 7:25am and about 20-30 additional people made it then he said fug it and we departed.  I am not bitching about TSA again...

Sounds like a walk in the park next to flying in Africa.

Lilongwe Airport in Malawi.  They have like 8 flights a day and 60 armed soldiers to protect this strategic lynchpin to southern Africa.

I was searched by no less than 3 of them and each time they completely emptied my bags, searched through every pouch and pocket, and basically put their hands on everything I had.

When I got home I learned from a coworker who makes that trip a couple times a year that they were expecting a bribe and the searches would have stopped as soon as I had offered them cash.  They only do it to business travelers and in particular the white ones.

I have flown and passed thru a number of countries, and imo China was far and away the worst.  Nothing I have been thru in the US has been even close.

Yeah China is a pain and I only was transferring to another flight out of the country.

Arsen if it was today everywhere was messed up.  I had to wait 45 minutes in ORD for Precheck TSA services.  Felt bad for those that didnt have it as their wait was over a hour.   Also Canada is preclearance so it is nice when you get to your destination. But sucks leaving.

So were we.  Flying to Manila thru Beijing because Air China was the cheapest flight. I will not make that mistake again.  I will take a Western or Japanese airline even if it cost more money.

Going through Taipei is easiest imo to Manila.  Not sure on the price though.
