Hornets aggressively looking to upgrade Wing/Power Forward - Appear to be looking to move Stephenson

Stephenson is a potential major issue. It was a mistake to sign him it seems to me now. He simply does not bring what we needed. Hayward would've been gold. Lance making us look like fools.

Originally I hoped for a firey player that opposing fans hated but was beloved by our own. We just ended up with a slightly above average player who is both selfish and childish. That is a chemistry killer. Add his short comings shooting from the field and he doesn't fit well with kemba or mkg on the floor.

Our best bet at this point is PJ starts to emerge as a legitimate starter. Move on from step son and hendo and see if the team can progress on.

I think we are looking to deal, but the rest seems speculative and author's opinion.

In the meantime we need to figure out how to make it work.

If i were the coach I would move Stephenson to the bench. Start Neal or PJ Hairston.

Then with second unit with Hairston/Neal and Roberts run the offense through Stephenson. Let him create for others.

Then let whoever is playing well play down the stretch.

I wouldn't call it a benching as much as just moving him to the 6th man.

But Coach Clifford has a better handle on the team than I do. But if I were coach that is what I would do

Meh. Seems pretty convenient to put it all on Lance.

The coach needs to take responsibility for the 4th quarter collapses.

Lance just doesn't fit. It's not blaming or knocking him. Chris Paul & Tony Parker are both elite PGs, but having both of them would be pretty moot & counterproductive. Kemba-Lance-Al just doesn't fit. Al is the best of the 3 & Lance has a much more tradeable contract than Kemba. He's just the odd man out. The "antic" crap is no different than the Cam "towel" crap and is pure media drivel.

Trying to get rid of Marvin. They like cody off the bench and Vonleh isn't ready yet.

I'd rather keep Marvin as a backup SF & trade him next year as an expiring. Package Lance & Hendo for a starting PF.

Forwards...

MKG/Marvin

???/Zeller

Marvin is a terrible PF, & it's just magnified playing beside Al's black hole defense. But he's still a very solid SF & can spread the floor & hit 3s. Plus he can step in & start if the oft-injured MKG is out.

Kemba is playing beside a ball hog SG who can't shoot to save his life and other wings who can't shoot. If Charlotte would put shooters on the floor Kemba would magically look a lot better. Chris Paul and Steph Curry would struggle playing in a backcourt with Lance & Hendo.

Kemba is a good player- nothing more, nothing less. He's a borderline top 10-12 PG who has a reasonable contract- $12m will be nothing after the new TV deal takes effect. He's good enough at the PG position. You don't win championships with a "superstar" PG, or even top 5 PG. Magic was the exception.

I'm more worried that MKG wasn't mentioned as an untouchable. I'd rather trade Kemba AND Al than get rid of MKG. Both short term and long term.

I think it's obvious Lance is gone, though. I don't think Charlotte ever had any intention of keeping him. IMO, they wanted Heyward and after they missed on him they signed Lance on a bargain contract for the sole purpose of having a trade asset. Kind of shitty thing to do, but a good business move. There were no other options for Chatlotte to get better. They were proactive and got a talented player who could be used to help upgrade the roster down the road.

That's just absurd. He's a bottom third starting PG. The league is saturated with decent PGs these days.

    • I didn't say much bigger. Watch the highlights I linked. Bryce doesn't have the arm strength and/or talent to make the vast majority of the throws Mac made in that video.
    • Tetairoa McMillan.   The last 28 1st overall picks were either a QB, DE, or OT. Seeing as I don't think we'd take an OT in the 1st and give up on Ickey as an LT yet and there doesn't seem to be a clear overall #1 type of QB or DE pick this year, it very well could be a non conventional #1 overall this year, at least in regards from the last almost 3 decades of drafts. If we didn't have Horn, I'd be more open to Hunter as a CB at #1, but we have him so another CB wouldn't be how I'd use a #1 pick.  And as much as I love Legette, if we have SB contending aspirations, I don't think Legette is a #1 on a team like that, but he damn sure is an elite #2 on a team like that.  He's more of the Smith/Higgins/Waddle to Brown/Chase/Hill (in terms of role/impact, not style of play of course). T-Mac is going to be the top ranked WR on every team's board in the end.  He is going to be a true outside #1 WR who is viewed as a consensus Top 5 WR in the game by his second contract in the same way guys like Jefferson and Chase have done.  His height combined with his speed, athleticism, and hands are near impossible to find all in one player, there is a reason his generally used comp is Mike Evans (although as he's not as thick, I personally see him more as an AJ Green). Yes, as an Arizona alum I've admitted to having bias towards the player to begin with.  But he's also someone very widely being put into the Top 5 in mock drafts lately and most of them have him as the first non QB offensive player being taken, so it's not really THAT much of a homer pick on my part anyways. If a QB or DE truly separate themselves as being a can't miss prospect come draft day, I'm open to that discussion, but until then, or if it doesn't happen, T-Mac is my pick 100 times out of 100.
