report: Jets and Raiders looking to trade for Harbaugh

You know Mr Scot, I would normally agree with you on this. However, I just don't see this organization taking a chance and moving on from Rivera. They will point to injuries and salary cap as the scapegoat. They should bring in an HC/OC to maximize the player they claim to be the franchise QB, but I fear they won't. Unless there is a come to Jesus moment, this franchise is going to be run as a "defense wins championships" team. They don't have the guts to build a high powered offensive AND a stout defensive team. It's sad but I fear it's reality that Ron is back for at least 2015.

Look back at history.

Only one coach has lasted more than four years with this franchise.  That was John Fox, and he had a Super Bowl win to his credit.  Up till his final season, Fox never finished below 7-9, and even his losing seasons weren't embarrassments like this one.

Dom Capers and George Seifert were both fired immediately after posting the worst records of their coaching tenures (4-2 and 1-15 respectively).

Rivera is most likely about to post his worst coaching record since he began (6-10 in his first year) and what prior accomplishment can he call on?  No Super Bowls, no playoff wins, and only a single winning season which he followed up with this one.

Beyond that, as mentioned before this isn't just a losing season.  It's an embarrassing one, and one where players have started to check out.  Rivera has lost the locker room, and there's no recovery from that.

Jerry Richardson knows he isn't going to live forever.  I sincerely doubt he wants to spend his final days watching the team that he built from an idea into reality looking like garbage.  Likewise, I doubt Dave Gettleman is willing to just be party to what you're seeing now without taking action in the offseason.

Bottom Line: I can't fathom a scenario where Rivera comes back next year.  If that happens, I'll be extremely shocked.

This.

"JR, have you considered Jim Harbaugh as a coach?"

JR: "Who's that?"

Shoot me in the fuging face.

JR and/or Hurney contacted Harbaugh and Harbaugh refused to talk to them about the opening. Being a former Panther, Harbaugh pissed off Richardson and that is why he made that remark.

Everyone likes to forget that part and just jump to criticize Richardson for that situation.

it still would have been better if he would have said something to the effect of "all we're willing to discuss at this time is that we've reached out to harbaugh's camp"

it is true that harbaugh basically told us to piss off and that twisted some dicks in charlotte
