report: Jets and Raiders looking to trade for Harbaugh

there were rumors that we had reps waiting in the tunnel after the orange bowl and harbaugh just ignored us

the press conference debacle might have just been terrible damage control for that

Few if any remember, but Gantt actually wasn't the only one who reported that we went after Harbaugh,

Tim Kawakami, a  Bay area reporter, also said at the time that we were trying for him.  Kawakami reported that he '"wasn't returning our calls".

I've long believed that we made overtures which were rejected, then pretended it never happened to save face.

ok so i'm reading up on this and the nfl seems to have put a stop to trading picks for coaches after the 2002 season and the gruden thing

so... what could a team conceivably trade for a coach?  just cash?

I remember them stopping it, but also vaguely remember allowing it again.

At this point, I'm honestly not sure (and don't feel like looking it up)

No they didn't, Herm Edwards got traded to the Chiefs in 2006. Jets got a 4th round pick for him (turned into Leon Washington). Using this scale Jim would fetch at least a 1st and a 3rd.

I have a few close connections that were on the Stanford side now with Nevada and still with Stanford who mentioned this.

A lot of guys tied to our later Capers year staff and roster have a poor taste in their mouth with the organization/JR and vice versa.
