Mark Cuban anyone?

You mean the guy that had a budding dynasty on his hands but didn't want to go over the luxury tax so he traded harden to a division rival for fifty cents on the dollar and hasn't been back to the finals while Houston probably surpassed them and they're probably losing Durant in free agency?

No thanks. He also stole the Sonics.

Take a breath - it was only an example, as I know nothing about the NBA. The same rules would apply for the other major sports.

When Stan Kroenke bought the Rams he simply put the Nuggets and Avalanche into his son's name, although I doubt Cuban would do something like that.  I wonder why the allow people to own teams from the Premiere League but not from the NBA or NHL.

JR signs checks. That's all any owner does. In the past JR's decisions (hiring Hurney, gutting rosters, etc) were responsible for failures but you cannot put this on him. After he fired Hurney, he hired consultants (Beane & Co) who were extremely qualified & did the work to find him a new GM. JR hired the guy that the pros told him was most qualified & he has given Dave full control of the roster, & he's spending the money. He's paying a crapload of dead money to guys that aren't here anymore on top of the salary.

JR is actually doing his part these days. He's financially commited, given full control to the GM, & stays the F out of the way. That's all any owner can do.

If he had done this 15 years ago we probably wouldn't be in this mess, but that's moot. He's doing his part now. People crying for a new owner & wishing he would die better be careful what they ask for. There's no guarantee the next owner will miraculously be this great leader & CEO. It's more likely we end up with a clueless stiff.

Uh no. JR does not just sign checks. He meddles and has clenched on to inept hires he made for too long. He's paying a crap load of dead money for guys given stupid contracts because he was a dumbass who hired a journalist, who is now jobless, to be his GM for a century, how is that not on him? How is that moot?

I've never said JR was a cheap owner or not financially committed. I've argued he is a stubborn business first owner who simply, and most importantly does not know how to build a winning franchise. Simple as that. He does not know how, he does not have the skill or ability to do it. Sure business is booming, but I'm a fan of the team and winning; I don't sit here and watch the revenue and worth of the Panthers and cheer.

Hey guys JRs past mistakes that put us here the past 18 years are moot because he's ok now! Let's just forget about it, ok guys!?!??

Uh no, let's not. And no, sorry, what he has done the last 18 years isn't moot. Let's hope for a new owner who can take on the not so hard task of winning more than 20% of seasons in a 20 year span. And I won't be careful what I wish for because it can't get much worse. There are only a couple, a COUPLE worse teams in the past 20 years and even they're debatable.
