Does Cam want to go?

Cam isn't going anywhere.  We will sign him and lock him up for at least 6 years.  The only way he leaves is if we don't want him here anymore, and there are no signs of that.

That being said, I don't think at this point in his career, Cam is an elite qb along the lines of Manning/Brady/Rodgers etc...  Maybe he will be eventually, but not now.  But I do believe that with the right system, and enough talent around him, we can be a consistent winner.  Basically, he could be our version of Eli Manning.

People act like elite QBs come out of the draft each year. Get rid of Cam because he is only very good but not elite?! Crazy talk. Joe Flacco, Eli Manning, Russell Wilson, Big Ben. All non-elite QBs who have won the super bowl at least once. You don't need elite to win the super bowl. Nothing else matters then that.

Cam's signed through next season, and if we don't get a contract extension done, he will be franchised for the season after (and probably the one after that). If no contract by then, well, then he can go.

But make no mistake, the QB of the Panthers for AT LEAST the next 3 seasons is one Cameron Jerrell Newton.

If he doesn't want to be here then trade him and draft Mariota with the pick. Pay some offensive linemen and then hire Chip Kelly's offensive coordinator as our HC.

And then win the lottery and then find lost pirate gold and then marry 3 super models..............

If we upgrade the Panthers team next year and Cam still has the same problems of being accurate, slow making decisions, poor pocket presence, not able to run like he once did, then I would expect Gettleman to start looking elsewhere for a new starting quarterback.

I truly like Cam as a person and hope he is our long term answer at quarterback but what he's showing this year, is he that he's a good  athlete but may not develop into an NFL quarterback you can depend on to put a team on his back and make them an annual playoff caliber team. The ball is in Cam's court and the time clock is winding down on whether he will be paid the large salary a top NFL quarterback command's.

What he's showing is what every QB in history shows when they don't have..........

1. Avg. OLine Play

2. Few weapons to throw to...

3. Non consistent running game

4. Poor Playcalling

5. Other parts of the team breaking down (Like the Defense and Special teams have done)

.....One player can't carry a team in the ultimate team sport...

Name me 1 QB who had to play with all this crap and had success????? Just 1.
