Dear Dave

he didn't gamble on Hardy, he signed him to a one year deal.  no one had any clue he would implode, and no one had any clue Goodell would make him sit for the entire year.  That was just plain bad luck.  No different than if he had suffered a season ending injury.

he didn't gamble on the OLine, no one was available.  we made an offer to the only decent OT we could hope to afford, who went for more money elsewhere.

he didn't let the WR corp go, they left for teams with more money.

he didn't gamble on the DBs, the ones we had left for more money, and there wasn't anyone else to sign in our price range.

so no he didn't gamble...unless you're saying the other players offered to stay for less money, but he made them go..m

Just stop with all the blind faith he couldn't do anything crap.....

He wasn't forced to give Hardy 13 million dollars and knowing now what has been widely reported... That they had question about Hardy's off the field life.. He could have let him walk or got Hardy a long-term deal with a lesser Cap hit then 13 mil... He gambled with the 1  year rental while letting other players walk...

He gambled going into the season with no drafted or Vet OT on the roster.. He Gambled that Bell could be a left tackle and that Chandler could be a starting Tackle at all. He gambled that Gary williams could stay healthy{ when he never has} and be a option. He could have brought in a vet like Bryant Mickinny or Eric Winston to atleast  have a experience OT on the roster...

He didn't let Smitty walk he cut him with no financial gain... He didn't have to cut Smitty and signed the slow ass crew to replace him..

You don't know what other younger DB's were on the market so please stop acting like Harper Decoud and Cason were the only options..

He Gambled thinking these jags had anything left to offer a team..and they don't...

So please stop with this Gettelmen had his hands tied and couldn't make any other decisions when it came to this years roster... Because it's a false opinion..

No financial gain for cutting Smitty?

We're paying him more to play for the Ravens then what he would have made this season. We only saved 1 mil on the salary cap this year...

Was it truly worth it???

Every time I see Chocthery get no separation on a DE/OLB i think not.....

what

he was due to count $7 million against our cap this season

His dead Money is 5 mil this year and 4 mil next year...

Cotch is making almost 2 mil...

So for the 7mill we would be paying Smitty we have Cotch and Smitty dead money....

I'd rather have Smitty...JMO

not to mention this was going to be his last season if he stayed here. The financial genius that G-man is, is only overshadowed by his implementation of the principles from the book "How to Win Friends and Influence People"!

if you're going to be intellectually honest about this you need to consider what he would have been paid ($20+ million) if he would have been on the roster in that same time frame.  if there are cap savings then it's a wash at the absolute worst.

anyway every team in the league does stuff like that.  it's not exclusive to the panthers and it's getting old reading people throwing out "omg we're paying him to play for teh ravens!1" like it's some concept pioneered by dave gettleman.

So we all love lafell now I guess

There were lafell fans all over this site three years ago right. People who were worried about him being extended long before his contract would have been up, lots of lafell avatars, lots of lafell referencing screen names?

I ask because based on what I'm reading here he was very popular on this site apparently

I was the only one who defended him basically.

LOL. This is the NFL, you don't just "gamble the season away" and say "oh well". It doesn't work that way. He blew up a 12-4 team and gutted it of leadership and identity. The Panthers will pay for the fat idiot's ego move for a long time.

This is all on our beloved fearless owner, who by the way only wants to win, and the fat fug scout he hired as a GM.

Some of you act like we are the only team in NFL history to have to deal with the cap.

you can whine about Dave all you want to, but he isn't near the top of the list of problems.
