If you don't think Oline is the biggest problem for this offensive unit this season, you're an idiot.

It's by far our biggest issue. However you're thread is blaming the line for the piss poor play throughout the entire team.

This isn't a line issue, it's a whole team issue. Ron needs to go.

So we all love lafell now I guess

There were lafell fans all over this site three years ago right. People who were worried about him being extended long before his contract would have been up, lots of lafell avatars, lots of lafell referencing screen names?

I ask because based on what I'm reading here he was very popular on this site apparently

3 years ago he actually was quite popular... but the last couple years taht popularity has declined as people felt he hit his ceiling.

Reality is, Tom Brady will make anyone look amazing.  Even Donald.  (edit: and for those of you new to this place, yes i know what his name is :P)

oh i remember he dat deal and oh wee mayne turning into memes on this site and all that.

i would say this reinvention of him as some kind of dynamite game breaking receiving threat is only rivaled by the reinvention of john fox as the love child of chuck noll and bill belichick though.  i remember many a gameday thread where everybody wanted lafell cut before the team plane landed in charlotte.

if he's a better fit in a west coast offense then that's fantastic for him.  wouldn't be the first time that happened in new england.

there's something to be said for motivation, too.  lafell often looked like he had the talent just not the concentration.  the panthers just letitng him walk likely gave him a lot of motivation to show he was worth it for the pats.

Dave has made some mistakes but he atleast has given us something, He gambled this season and he lost, oh well. Ron won't gamble, has no balls, and has no sense urgency. Every week he keeps resting on us still being in the hunt, and seems to be way to comfortable taking the easy way out, by coaching scared. Ron is the problem, not Dave.

that sounds like a team culture thing too.

maybe it doesn't mean anything, but it seemed like the players who either played under hurney for all or the vast majority of their careers were the ones most pissed at how gettleman handled them.  munnerlyn, some guy who used to wear 89 for us, lafell taking shots at us in the press, etc.  ginn and mitchell had played for other teams prior to the panthers and it seemed like they didn't really care.

It's very possible.  It is clear that Dave is here to run a business, not make friends, and that upset some of our players.

Ofc I don't think he handled Smitty right at all, but that's my love for his play talking.

I'll give any coach or GM 4 years to prove themselves. Gettleman hasn't had enough time to undo the mess he inherited. I've seen enough from Rivera and company.

It appears that a lot of people weren't listening when G.M. Dave Gettleman told all of us before the season,we were in cap hell and it would probably take a couple of years to pull out of it. There were very few top OL and WR's available in free agency this year and they all commanded a highly inflated priced. If Gettleman had pulled a Hurney and made way out contract extensions to free money to obtain them,we would be so far in salary cap hell we would never get out.

Gettleman also said he couldn't go out and spend money because several core players contract's would be due and we had to make allowance for that. Understandly no one had foresight about the Greg Hardy situation that cost us a lost $13 million and one of the NFL's  top pass rushers

Even with the player roster Rivera inherited this year, there could have been more wins, if him and the coaching staff had done a better job.

So a good old hindsight argument. If only we would have known exactly what would have happened we would have thought something else!

Thanks Deep Blue.

That's not a hindsight, go back and look before a damn snap was played this season. I was very clear that Avant was a downgrade from Lafell. Run a search.

Oline is playing well, learn football

Have you watched our left tackle play? All season? Today?

That is worst LT play in the NFL. A team may have worse for a game bc of an injury. But overall, worst LT play is Bell. That is the most important position on the OL.

They aren't playing well.
