Freaking John Clayton was on ESPN yesterday and was asked about the best place for Rice to land and said that he is very much certain to go to Buffalo.  I spat out my Fruit Loops.

This seems so obvious I don't know how people can think JR really made this decision on his own. That would make zero sense. 

 

Watching the announcement when it happened, pretty clear there was a whole load of pissoffedness in the building that day.

I can't really be happy for Ray Rice.  He's still a POS.

 

As to Hardy, general consensus is if you're still holding out hope of seeing him in a Panther uniform again, you're likely wasting your time.

Richardson publicly (and tearfully) defended Hardy.  Throw in that Gettleman said they never considered suspending him and Rivera abruptly walked out of the presser pissed off the day they announced him going on the exempt list.

 

Pretty clear the NFL didn't really give the Panthers a choice in the matter. 

 

The NFL needed Hardy to go away so people would stop talking about him.

They have an established roster of skill set players and could use a good RB.  He could go there and play the NY Jets Chris Johnson type roll, assuming the Falcons keep Jackson and find another back.

No it wasn't his decision he FOLDED to the almighty NFL. Had he stood his ground the Nfl would have tried to suspend hardy and he would have won an appeal. I would bet anything that if hardy had refused the exempt list that Richardson would have cut him to make the nfl happy. Someone would have picked him up and he'd be playing Sunday.

No one in here is blaming hardy for wanting to clear his name. What are you talking about?

Hardy's not suspended.  He's on the Exempt List, and he agreed to be placed there.

 

But let's say he asked off.  Adrian Peterson was on the Exempt List too and decided to try and get off it by pleading 'no contest' to the charges against him. Well, the League did indeed take him off the list, and about five seconds later they suspended him without pay for the rest of the year.

 

So now that we've seen that happen, what would make you think Hardy would be treated any different?

 

Perhaps more to the point, what would make Hardy think it'd be any different?  For that matter, why would a man who per his own statements is all about the dollar bills take the risk of losing money when he can just sit home and collect paychecks without even so much as having to pass 'Go'?

 

He's not coming back this year.  So by the time his trial rolls around and he comes off that list either to suspension or reinstatement, his contract with the Panthers will have ended. And I seriously doubt the team is willing to take the risk of making him another offer.

That's actually contradictory,

 

You're essentially saying if he would have fought the NFL on this, he then would have turned right around and cut Hardy in order to please the very people that he was fighting.  That makes no sense at all.

 

Regardless, fighting the NFL is a losing proposition.  The League can take away draft picks, impose cap penalties, etc. 

 

You're not winning that fight.  It'd be stupid to even try.
