Players vs System

Mr. Scot

Mr. Scott do you think its a coaches scheme and the GM provides the pieces or can a GM help determine scheme?

Seems like DG may have to do the latter here in a few months.

In the most successful examples, coach and front office share a vision.

I don't know that Gettleman has a preference scheme-wise, mind you. I do know his earliest Super Bowl ring came from a West Coast team (Broncos with Shanahan; Kubiak and Dennison on staff) but his last two were produced by a team running an Erhardt-Perkins scheme (Giants under Coughlin).

Typically though, teams with less than stellar OLs adjust to a more WCO with lots of screens and slants to dink and dunk to get the ball out of the QBs hands quicker.

What does Shula do? Runs a bunch of long-developing plays with 7 step drops to get Cam killed, or right up the gut to get the RBs stuffed. Again, I'm just not sure what we're trying to do on offense this year. It looks like we're playing into the weakness of this team, and not trying to maximize what little strengths we do have.
