Jordy Nelson is the most dangerous deep threat?

Demaryius Thomas had 283 yards one season, then 551 yards the next season. That's an average of 417 yards per season.

Then the Broncos signed Peyton Manning and he put up 1,434 yards one season and 1,430 yards the next.

Obviously he isn't really any good and just a product of playing with HOF QB Peyton Manning, right guys?

Speaking of playing for 5 minutes, I forgot to add Watkins in there. Those guys were drafted early in the 1st round for a reason. They in the superstar category. Nelson is in the good player category. He needs another 80 catches guy around him to do well.

Because every great player ever was drafted in the 1st round. Do you know how retarded that logic is? I don't want to argue anymore. The stupidity in this thread is making my head hurt.

Still laughing that Panthers fans who judged LaFell as not good enough for this team are judging Jordy Nelson as overrated.

This team would be lucky to have just Brandon LaFell back.  Jordy Nelson would upgrade this team well above what Smith ever did.

Pretty sure the only one dissing Jordy in this thread is the resident racist.  He hates on all white players, no matter how good they may be... they're all inferior, overrated, and media creations to him.

And the Smith line... no.  I really like Jordy, he's a great receiver, but prime Steve Smith owns him (and to be fair, prime Steve Smith >>> pretty much everybody).  Give young Smitty a decent, stable QB situation during those years with just a liiiittle bit of help and his career stats are WAY up.  Lol, give him a fuging Aaron Rodgers, Peyton Manning, Tom Brady level QB and I argue goes down Jerry Rice-level.  People thought Welker and Brady was something?  Smitty and Brady would've broke the league.

Winston is the best QB and projected top 5 pick. And that's with crazy off the field issues. He's in full control of the offense. He could throw 10 INTs in a game and scouts would still understand it. The lack of talent at WR force him to take risks and scouts understand that.

Nelson is an under the radar performer. He keeps catching people by surprise. When good teams line up their best corners on him he struggles. They only hype when he has a good game. Top CBs don't even bother to trash talk him. He's not like Julio Jones who can put up 200 after a top CB like Peterson trash talk him. The more he start showing up on the radar the more he'll struggle. I've seen that story before. Nothing wrong with being a good player in this league but to try and talk him up like he's a feared receiver in this league is ridiculous. Nothing wrong with staying in his lane. Nelson is a good 1a or very good #2 receiver. Randall Cobb allow him to be himself. Like having 2 catches in a game for 53 yards and then 10 catches the next while still winning. It's a joke that people act like he's some kind of burner. GB put Nelson in positions to catch balls.

Also, the league is over 70% African Americans. It's fine if one of them have a bad game here and there. They have nothing left to prove. lol

if you don't think jordy nelson is a feared receiver you hold absolutely zero credibility on the topic of football

sorry bruh, nelson is top 10, and there is no debating it. you could make an argument for top 5.

Prime Steve Smith was a boss. With even a Matt Ryan he'd be a HoFer. Jerry Rice level though? Nah. People forget he dropped 1000 yards at the age for 40. 4-0.

2005 Steve Smith could have been the best receiver of all time, the problem of course was that this only lasted one season. Jerry Rice is the GOAT because he was consistently great year after year after year.

Rice is the GOAT.  Might've exaggerated a bit with the Rice thing because I forgot just how retarded his career numbers were, but I still don't think he'd be all that far off if all things were the same.  My point was if you give Smitty 15+ seasons with a Tom Brady, Peyton Manning, Aaron Rodgers... or in Rice's case, Joe Montana and Steve Young then I whole-heartedly believe the greatest WR conversation would go: Rice, Smitty, Moss, etc., and for fun throw in Sterling Sharpe as a "what if" scenario.  You don't think Smitty would churn out back-to-back-to-back-to-back 1,300+ yard seasons with those caliber of QBs?  fug, a decent WR can virtually sleep-walk to 1,000 with Peyton.  He also faced double coverage at the very least for basically his whole career.  On top of being on a heavy run-first defensive-minded team his entire career.

This isn't just because I'm a Panthers fan, but Smitty really was just a specimen combined with that cutthroat competitive edge and fire that all the greats possess.  That was Moss and TO's problem.  All the talent in the world, but just lacking in other areas.  They also had the good fortune of mostly healthy careers along with playing with some pretty good QBs on top of it.  5 foot 9 guys playing like they're 9 foot 9, lightning quick, explosively fast, tough as nails, jumping out the gym, crisp route-running, knack for clutch plays, reliably-handed guys just don't come along that often.  We hit the lotto with him, just failed to ever really do anything with it.  Jerry Rice is the example of the perfect storm of all that coming together, which rarely ever happens for an athlete.  They can have the talent, but not the situation.  The situation, but not the talent.  He had both + the will to be great.

Early on in his career Steve Smith really didn't even get the chance to play WR with us, missed a full season to injury, and even when he was out there he had such prestigious QB names as Chris Weinke, Rodney Peete, Average Jake, Bad Jake, 100 year old Vinnie Testeverde, Really fuging Bad Jake, Brian St. Pierre, Matt Moore, and Jimmy Clausen.  By the time Cam showed up Smitty was over 32, young enough for one more great year, but it was obvious Father Time was coming a knocking.  He's still very solid even at 35, but pretty much his whole prime was nothing but wasted potential.

Really great article here that actually goes in depth about the very same topic about how his career was a bit tragic, considering he was one of the greats:

You don't even have to mention those QBs. Roddy has been a 1300 yard receiver consistently with Ryan at the helm. Smith is better than Roddy and i hate saying that because i love Roddy and dislike Smith. The QB situation has been atrocious for Smith for most of his career.

Steve Smith is probably gonna go down as one of, if not the athlete I feel most sorry for despite him already having a really great career.

A lot of us don't talk about it because it's our team and he stayed here with us, but we really, really held him back. I'd give anything to peek into an alternate reality where Steve spent his career on the Pats.

There are so many receivers better than Nelson. There are some beast out there for him to be compared to.

A. Brown

J. Jones

D. Thomas

D. Bryant

C.Johnson

D. Jackson

AJ Green

M. Evans

A Jeffrey

O. Beckham

B. Marshall

TY Hilton

Nelson is not in the class of some of those guys I listed. He's a respectable top 20 WR tho.

Top 5? Don't make me laugh.

LMFAO.

At least let ODB and Mike Evans play 5 more seasons to say they are better than JN.

That damn catch by ODB really makes people out of mind.
