Looking for gift for beer lover(but only very certain types)

I'm looking for a gift for someone that likes beer and recently has been venturing out from the usual national brands. However the only styles I am aware of for sure that he likes are pilsner and pale ale (no ipa). I think he would be open to trying styles similar to those but I don't know enough about beer to make suggestions. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Who cares about ABV for beer? If you think it won't have any kick, take a nice big swig of Ruination and then tell me if it needs the extra 1.8%.

I live at altitude and with that an extra pint of blood to compensate. I'm not saying it's not a good beer. It's great, I only take issue with calling it a double.

OP, look for a fresh hops beer. They should be in stores now.

lived on walker for three years.  miss bestway and sticks and stones more than anything.  still haven't found a replacement in clt.

Stop by a total wine, 201 central, world market or even a Harris Teeter if you aren't around any of the others. This time of year they usually have a large assortment of variety packs. That way you friend can try out different styles.
