Anybody Had Their Knee Scoped?

Did the nerve block when they operated on my hand but they wouldn't let me watch.  (Massive infection that I was later told was really gross, so probably a good thing).

Had my knee scoped about 10 years ago for torn meniscus and they did a lateral release and microfracture surgery.  They put me under for that.  Surgery was no biggie-- 3 holes like the others said.  Microfracture has a one year to 18 month full recovery time and even then (as you have seen with lots of athletes) often not a "full" recovery.  I still feel a tweak now and then but nothing like before.  Of course I'm not trying to jump over people or run through them, but then again I don't have the personal trainers and therapy experts the pros have.

But yeah, you should be fine.

I think that's what I'll do. Thanks!!!

I wonder if I can get them to make a DVD? They gave me a disc of my MRI, I don't know what I'm looking at, but it's cool looking!

I have a VHS tape of my first arthroscopic surgery (20 years ago). It is weird and fascinating. Getting ready for total knee replacement Monday ... after a second arthroscopic (unrelated to the first injury) last year. I'm a little stressed about this surgery.

Do it! I watched a couple arthroscopic ACL replacements, and they are absolutely fascinating. Unless you are really squeamish, it's not gross at all. There is almost no blood, and it's fascinating to see the inner workings of your body.

And generally speaking, I don't like to go under general anesthesia unless my life depends on it. Get the local and enjoy the show!

They talked me out of staying awake to watch it. They said that I wouldn't be able to leave until I could go to the bathroom and I might have to stay there all day, and possibly get a catheter if I still couldn't piss. I got some pics. though!

I'm damn pretty sore right now!! It was done Wednesday, so I figure it will start easing off some after today. I'm walking "gingerly" right now but I still can't hardly bend it, it's a bitch trying to put my shoe on!!!
