Cam has made poor throws when he has had time, that what is what people is talking about. The inconsistent throwing is what is keeping Cam Newton down. I was consider heavily before giving him a huge contract.

Do you think he still wanted to play but was so bummed he quit football altogether? I'm sure there were teams that would have been interested in a former all pro left tackle. Of course that can only happen if the guy still wants to play.

My point is with Cam's talent, KB, Olsen, two vets in Avant and Cotchery, Dwill, JStew and Tolbert coming out of the backfield, with a decent Oline, we should have been OK... BUT (and it's a big but) with Shula's inadequacy and his apparent injuries, it just didn't to work.

Even with Cam being hurt, a decent OC could've made it work with a decent Oline, but the combo of a horrible OC and horrible Oline, it is a disaster.

The Panthers organization, yes, but I doubt he works for Gettleman. It would be very surprising if his responsibilities extended to television and radio.

the part of this transition that doesn't get much attention is that gettleman's idea of an ideal team culture is worlds apart from hurney's

 

the way nippleshorts runs this team is likely closer to the norm in the NFL than the way hurney ran it

You're in a nightmare cap situation. Your QB is in a contract year.

 

1. Don't draft a LT or shore up the line in any meaningful way

2. Let players who demand high salaries go: LT, best WR, contract year players in secondary

3. Draft a WR who can spend a year learning but, unlike a tackle, won't make a huge impact right away

 

Result: QB has a bad year. You can negotiate for less and a secure him at a bargain, a positive investment that will pay off for years rather than just the short term.

 

After you re-sign QB:

 

1. Drop aging, overpaid RB's to complete cap overhaul

2. Draft O-line and secondary

3. Have back to back winning seasons

cam would be the hottest quarterback to test FA in recent memory even if you consider what happened this season

 

possibly even more so than manning and brees because he has less wear on his body and isn't coming off a catastrophic career threatening injury
