Then vote for somebody else, good grief, why is this even a thing. More options > fewer options. Scrubs like Waiters and Hardaway Jr aren't realistic options either, but it's nice to put the other guys into context.

It's a thing because it undermines the entire poll. Same with Kobe.

You can't say it's "current" and then include Wade and Kobe. That's ridiculous.

Good day, now.

I got to talk this one out before I pick my player.

PG: Lillard

SF: Durant

PF: A. Davis

C: Marc Gasol

Basically what I am missing from this line-up is a tough nosed defensive player. I basically am missing my defensive stopper who can shoot the 3 to keep teams honest. Basically what I need is an MKG with a 3 point shot and I would feel great about this starting 5.

So in saying that I would probably choose a 2 SF line-up and pick up a guy like a Kawhi Leonard or even MKG (I know I am a homer). I truly think every team needs a MKG type player to have a complete TEAM!

But for the basis of this pole I will choose Klay Thompson. His defense is serviceable but he has the 3 point shooting I am looking for.

then don't cote for him lol

I can't vote for any of them. The OP clearly meant in their prime (hence Kobe and Wade being included), but he's saying he meant as they are right now, a statement that Wade and Kobe both undermine, which confuses the whole issue enough for me to have to abstain.

I would take Kobe in his prime to build my "franchise" around. Only way I could vote is if the OP was trying to make the point that Kobe and Wade are no longer franchise players because he didn't expect anyone to vote for them at this stage of their careers.

That's clearly not a point he was making, though.

The great thing about Klay is that he has improved every aspect of his play each year. He's always been a great shooter. He's improved his defense immensely, and is way better now at driving the lane and getting to the basket. If he can develop a midrange jump shot he'll be insane. He'll be able to hit perimeter shots, drive into the paint and if it isn't there, pull up. That's tough to defend.
