You can justify almost every move Gettleman has made in the name of getting the team financially healthy after the retarded contract extentions of Marty Hurney, but the problem I have is he paid Steve Smith to go play for another team. Of all of his moves, that one made the least sense in that they really could have used Steve this year....

Freed up future cap space with this move. His $9M hit in '15 would have been a huge problem.

His workout bonus is 150k.  I'm guessing that is broken up into 3 different pay periods?  50k for each OTA.

 

 

If so, he would most likely only miss 1, hence costing himself 30k or so after taxes.  If he doesn't hang up the cleats, he may decide it's not worth it to risk injury, and just not show.

 

 

 

 

However, I have no clue how those off season workout bonuses are paid.

After Hurney being called a cap expert, I no longer have any respect for the moniker.

 

Kurb, Panthro, and I had been screaming this from the mountain tops for a couple years.

 

 

 

Hurney was awful, truly dreadful with his contracts, and his drafting.

DG is trying to sabotage Cam to run him out so he can get Manning 2 when he gets cut.

 

 

Cam is a super accurate QB, and is one of the best in the league.

 

 

Steve Smith should have retired a Panther, the way we cut him was mean.

 

 

What we have done to our vets makes other players not want to play for the Panthers.

 

 

We shouldn't have "rented" one of the best DE's in all of football and instead signed somebody.....anybody.
