Who to blame for Panthers' last ranked D

I cannot blame Gettleman. There's nothing he can do when he has no money to spend. He tagged our 2nd best defensive player. Argue if you want, but tagging Hardy was a hell of a lot smarter than overpaying bums long-term. Munnerlyn and Mitchell were grossly overpaid and look like poo without that front 7. He used high draft picks on Ealy, Boston, and Benwikere (sp?). He brought in the best free agents he could afford.

I cannot blame Rivera/McDermott. They can teach, coach, plan, and scheme all day long until they are blue in the face but it does not matter if the players lack the talent to execute. You can't make chicken salad out of chicken poo. History shows they are very, very good defensive minds. Looking at the lack of talent they have and there's no way you don't give them a pass.

I cannot blame the (active) players. They can't help they suck (serious). It's not their fault they are forced to play. Half our starters are backups at best. They're doing the best they can, which is all they can do.

So who do I blame?

I blame Greg Hardy. He's a selfish, immature idiot of a human being. We will never know, but who is to say we wouldn't still have a top 5 defense and very good record if he was out there? As bad as Harper, Cason, etc have looked they are still better than Mitchell, Munnerlyn, Florence, etc. Those guys were hot garbage before last year, and are hot garbage again this year. Our secondary is improved. Take away Hardy, and add in Davis/Johnson's decline, and last year's secondary would've looked even worse.

Even with Hardy....he downgraded too much. Even a dominant pass rush needs a certain level of consistent play behind it.

Who are some of the players you had in mind that would take the one year/two/three year deals adding up to 13 million in gauranteed money?

I'm just curious because I didn't see a top 5 safety like mikel that was cheap like last year. Corners are a wash from last year.

We lost several good DB's as well as our best pass rusher,DE Greg Hardy and Alexander this year,which made putting pressure on the QB harder. Our currently weak secondary is now being exposed because of this,especially, when we play a weak zone.
